Icon5 question.

hello to everyone. ive got a question that i think might be simple for someone who knows a bit more about the rangers than me, and this question might make me sound stupid, but here goes. i bought a 1990 ford ranger a few days ago, its an xlt extended cab with the 2.9 v6, 5 speed standard. i tried to look up the specs online and all i could find was the same truck, only 4x4. im reasonably sure my truck is not a 4x4, because i cant find lever, switch etc for it, but after seeing those other sites im wondering if it might be and im to retarded to find it, because they had information and specs for all other makes of the ranger in 1990 but not for a 2x4 ranger xlt extended cab with the 2.9 v6. so can anyone tell me if they did make that in 2x4 and if not what am i not seeing?
and also where i can find specs for it( torque, horsepower, etc.).?

thanks for your help,
Scot.

Some of the Rangers and all the newer ones have a 4x4 switch or **** on the center dash to turn on the 4x4.

You can always look under the front of the truck. If you see an off center ball between the tires you have 4x4. If no ball between the tires you have 4x2.

As far as I know all V6 models are available in 4x2 and 4x4.

But I don't know much about your year Ranger.

well, ford dropped the 2.9 ranger in mid 1990 for the 3.0.
your truck is most likely a 4x2 because there would be a switch to the left of the radio.
and you couldn't miss a twin stick ranger.
also, as stated before, your truck would have a front differential.
another thing to look for is on those year rangers, the front hubs (center of the front wheels)would say 4X4 on them.

k. its a 4x2, thats what i thought, but i couldnt find the specs online. on another note i love the truck, the only issues it has are a leak on the power steering hose( which is going to be fixed by next weekend because i have this week off from school) and a few rust spots on the body, but the frame looks brand new, no rust. its a great truck for 600 bucks.

From Wiki, your 1990 Rangers 2.9L (Cologne V6) is noted as having 140hp @ 4600rpms.

Later in 1990, the Vulcan V6 replaced the Cologne V6, and it's been the same tired 3.0L ever since.....LOL
