Does anyone know what could be causing my passenger floor board to get wet when it rains sometimes? Could it be coming from the top of the windshield and dripping down or at the bottom of the windshield or where? I have a 2010 and had a 97 that did the same thing after about 12 years, I've had the 10 for about 3 years.

 

Usually it comes thru the 3rd brake light, then flows to the front floor.

 

Or bottom corner of windshield, metal rusts out in the corners.
This is around the outside edge of the glass, so windshield is still sealed, water gets under the trim molding then runs down to the corner, it sits there and will rust that metal, when it rusts thru the water runs in behind the dash and down to floorboards

Simple test is to wait until floor drys a bit and then run water on windshield and see if it gets wet again.

Same for 3rd brake light, but test at different times of course

 

So does that mean that the windshield needs replacing or the molding?

 

Windshield needs to be pulled out, then corners or ??, it will be obvious, needs to be repaired and windshield reinstalled.

You can pull off the molding and see if you can see any rusting but you won't be able to get at it with windshield in place, and if you even "touch" the edge of the glass with screwdriver or other tool it will crack, it is tempered glass, very strong straight on, very very weak at the edge, it is suppose to shatter that way for safety reasons.

So if the water test shows windshield leak then best to pull it, find the leak, fix it then reinstall glass

 

I'll try the test first thanks. I have a supercab so it wouldnt really be coming from the 3rd break light would it?

I went to an auto glass place and they did a water and air test and said that the windshield was fine, said it was from the 3rd brake light. I installed an aftermarket led light and they said there was no rubber gasket around it and that's where the water was coming in, so they they put some kind of windshield tar like stuff around the light to seal it. We shall see next time it rains. Thanks for the help.
