question about heater controls

I have a 98 ranger and my control switch for the heater functions to move it from the defroster to the dash, floor, etc is not working. I got a new switch and put it in but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen anything like this or might know how I could fix it. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks

check if you getting vacuum to the switch. If not check the vacuum line running from the vacuum reservoir up to the firewall in the engine compartment on the passengers side.

Yes, there's two small plastic lines going into the AC box by the blower resistor. One should be black, coming from the vacuum reservoir. The other is grey and goes to the hot water valve. Check those and make sure their not damaged as well as the the one between the vacuum reservoir and intake. Theres also a vacuum gang plug on the AC box behind the glove box.

Rev's on target. The default position with no vacuum is defrost. It does sound like that's your problem.
