Icon5 Question about Sport trak

So my question is this. How does the Ford Explorer Sport trak differ from the Ranger? Is it an SUV frame or Truck frame?

Interested. Might go F series or sport trak.

I think I'm getting the big truck itch. MPGs aren't a concern. I don't drive enough to worry. I don't know.

The Sport Track is based off the Explorer. So whatever similarities the Ranger has to the Explorer, is also shared with the Sport Trac.

The newer 2007+ Sport Tracs however are still based off the Explorer, however that generation Explorer shares nothing with the Ranger of that time period.

The Sport Trac won't really feel any different than the Ranger, so if you're looking for more room, the Sport Trac probably isn't your answer.

Thank you for the information. I always thought the frame on the sport track was SUV and not truck. Might need to consider a F-150. Cabin space more. How much I can tow and haul more. That would be the best way to go. I think the F-150 is going on something like 40 years best selling and best built truck. As long as you say no to the aluminum can for a bed. For that problem. They should take 2 pieces of bed and smash fiber glass between them. Thats just my mind dreaming. Got a lot to think about.

Love the gas mask cold war avatar.

I figured out something.

My mind wandered to looking for trucks because I can't be enjoying my truck as much. My extra lights ticked me off. I just need to stop that crazy looking. I did so much to improve what I have. Trading her in would just make my project bigger. Its an anxiety problem I have. Besides a big truck is not needed right now.

Someday down the road when I can afford a monthly payment. That is when I will think about it.

Besides that. I have what I need. I want everything. It is what you need that counts. I have that. Our 2 parking spots at this condo can't hold a huge beast anyway. Right now I have room for the wifes kia soul and the ranger. As is I stick out of the spot more than I really want.

Love the Ranger

That's the conclusion I come to when I think about getting rid of my Ranger every few months. lol.

To answer your earlier question, the frames on the Explorer and the Ranger are basically different. The front part of the 95-01 Explorer frame is the same as a 98+ 4x4 Ranger, with the only difference being the Ranger has a front cross member that the tow hooks bolt to. The 95-01 Explorer frames do not have this cross member.

When it comes to the rear of the frame, completely different. The Explorer frame is wider than the Ranger, and the frame rails are shaped differently.

I just noticed that we can't give props anymore. Our information is gone on the right of each post. I hope they fix that. You can't even see what truck we have.

IB is making some changes currently. Give it time and we'll see what they come up with. I will say that the chat box and the props function are gone for good. They were on the chopping block for months now anyway.

Really like the Stephen King quote. The spiritual part of this world is real.

The chat box was kind of weird. People just aren't there when I am. I can remember writing something and thinking. Where is everybody.

I did notice that the props was given too seldom. So I started using it. It is sad that people didn't use it. Besides post count. That was a good way to see credibility of a poster. There does need to be a gauge of that sort.

Wait. It says Moderator next to your avatar. So you can be a group Moderator without giving feedback to change you believe is best for the forum? I have been a Moderator of several forums. Proposed changes came from Moderators. Not from Admin. Admin approved it. Then did the changes. I know everything is different in forums. Depending on topic.

You mention "IB". Would you be able to share with me who "IB" is?

IB stands for Internet Brands, which is the company that runs the forum.

Jacob, Ryan (admin) and I have been discussing the changes with IB behind the scenes. IB is pretty good about keeping us in the loop, and they welcome our feedback.

Unfortunately the props function had one major flaw. It allowed you to leave negative props on posts that were helpful, and positive props on posts that were not. That's one of the reasons why we didn't worry about losing the props function. IB is working on a replacement for the feature.

That is cool. There are other forums that I have been in that had a bar graph instead of numbers. I know there is always that jack leg that leave a negative on a positive. Unfortunately some people don't get it. The more forums you go to. The more you seek out the highier props or credits. Those people you know you can trust there answer more. Ron comes to mind. There are others that I have found. I think you had a good count before they got removed. That and those that are Mods you trust more as well.

I love forums. I have been in them since 98. I met my wife in one. So forums have treated me well over the years.

Hope all stays good at the other end. Nice place great people.

I used to be a pretty frequent poster over on Ford Truck Enthusiasts around 2008-2010. I loved the recognition system they had over there, which was a bar graph like you mentioned. Seeing as how FTE is also owned and operated by Internet Brands, I wouldn't be surprised if the replacement for props is the same style of recognition used on FTE.

Sounds good. If I end up with an F-150. There is a forum for that. I know someday down the road. Something a say a lot turned into a pun. But really. Someday the bigger truck. Right now the Ranger is more affordable to maintain.
