Ranger #5 on order

My dealer found a longbed 3.0 automatic. Should be in my hands by the end of the week.

Thats 5 I've bought new since 2002. Ford should sell me the last one off the assembly line. The "last one" always comes with some free advertising.
I think I've earned it.

Sweet! Post a picture of your fleet when you get the new one.

They are all being used at the granite shop(except mine). This has been the busiest month I've had since I opened. It had me worried about one being down. Now I have a spare.

The three shop trucks I have are 3.0. The highest has 147,000 miles on it. The only major repair has been 1 tranny and it was a manual that towed daily. That was asking a little too much for the tranny. That manual Ranger is gonna go into back up duty. We'll use it for small runs to do bids, run to the hardware store, delivery in a crunch, etc.

Although...I did try for a 4.0 first. There were no single cab long beds available. It would have to be ordered. If not delivered by Jan 2 I would risk the $2500 rebates that are in effect now.

just curious- anyone else have a long bed?

i see. can you even get a long bed with the 4.0 in it? or is that what you were talking about having to order it and then wait for it and possibly miss the rebates

yeah. Typically the 4.0 is extended cab only. They offered the long bed single cab option as a fleet vehicle starting in 2006 or 2007. That would be a sweet ride for sure. That one has to be ordered and would probably not get here in time for the rebates. He found a whopping 7 3.0's at dealers in a longbed. Still a rare bird.

White. This will be the first one I'll put the granite logo on. I'm pretty excited.

I may swap seats out of this new truck. The granite business is ruff on them. Maybe put them in a truck that doesn't do installs.

They should be like mine but a shorter head rest. The ones I've seen here look odd, but they have to be more functional than mine. I cannot see behind me. Terrible design imo.

I haven't seen the truck. We walked through the options i wanted- rubber floor, long bed, 3.0 or 4.0, white, automatic. Thats about it. No power windows but it did have cruise control.

You know what the logo looks like. The white truck is a must for it to work right.

USA - Red White and Blue. lol.

He wants to get it delivered for this months sales so I'll have it pretty quick. I wish I knew how the wheel base was different. Is it added behind the wheels or between the cab and the rear wheels?

im pretty sure its between the cab and rear wheels. (the bed is a foot longer) obviously.

wheel base is front wheels to back, if they added it behind the rear wheels it would not change the wheel base but it would change the overall length of the truck.

Just looked it up. Looks like they add 6" to both sides:

single cab std bed wheelbase is 112"
single cab long bed is 118"
ext cab std bed is 126"

nice. aside from the logo (and possibly swapping seats), do you plan on doing anything else to it?

Taillights would look good on my truck. lol.

Keep in mind this is a work truck, making deliveries every day. Plans:

Decals for the business- meeting with my decal guy tomorrow. Should have them on in a week.

Herculine the bed and go over the rail (or have the pros do it)

Fabricate a bed box that is full width x 4-5 ft deep. I'm gonna try this instead of tonneau cover. If my installer has to switch trucks I hope he can fork his box onto another truck in about 5 minutes. This will be interesting if I can pull it off.

Install a tow hitch.
