Driver's door damaged.....

Well the window still rolls up and down with no problem, but the bottom of the door is bent. I don't know if we could just put on a new skin or not. We'll see what the body shop and insurance adjuster says.
At first I was livid, then depressed as I was planning on keeping this truck in great shape for a long time. I hope they can fix it so it looks nice again.

Well the body shop says I need a new door shell because of some damaged bracing. A used door isn't available so he will get one from Ford. They'l exchange the mirror and interior trim. They'll have to also paint the front fender as it has a nick in it from the accident. 3-4 days to order the door shell, and another 3-5 days in the shop. Total estimate is $1,514.00.

No, he called around to see if he could find a door, with no luck. That's okay, I'd rather have a new door than one from a rusted out old junker.

Apparently there's some sort of problem about whether or not the girl or her boyfriend have insurance....they gave us the name of their insurance co, but the company records say no. My insurance co is looking into it right now...So I may get stuck paying a $500 deductible if it gets charged to my account.

My insurance company says they'll go after her for the deductible and any expenses they also incur, which would be the total of the repair, $ 1,514. If she doesn't have insurance it'll come out of her pocket, or possibly the boyfriend's pocket, as he is ultimatly responsible for having insurance and allowing her to drive his car.
Either way I should get my $500 back.

The insurance company is going after them. They tried calling them and the phone number they gave on the police report was disconnected. If it turns out they don't have insurance, my insurance co will report them to the Ohio BMV, and have they licenses suspended.
In the meantime my insurance company will put the claim under my name and I'll have to put up the $500 deductible. The body shop is ordering the parts today and the truck goes in the shop Tuesday.
