There is really no justification for 4wd which will not get used enough to justify spending the extra money. To sum it up, it would've been a waste of money to to buy something to drive on asphalt just to say, "WOOHOO, LOOK AT ME, I GOT ME A 4WD!"

On the matter of the 4.6 vs the 5.4, It was kind of difficult to find a 2wd XLT crew cab with anything bigger under the hood. The only XLT's with 5.4's were 4wd. There were Lariats, King Ranches, and FX4's, but those were not what I was looking for. I just don't believe in paying extra money for things that I don't need nor want in order to gain one thing. The truck serves it's purpose.
