2008 XL OEM Fogs
It has been about two years since I have posted anything to these forums (or do anything to my truck for that matter) and it is time to make some mods (complete list below).
Future mods:
- Fogs (OEM)
- Black Billie grill and black grill surround (2004 grill surround with trex billet grill)
- 3" lift (maybe)
- Wheels and Tires
- Wheels: something black (procomp, painted stocks, painted fx4 stocks ect.)
- Tires: 30x9.5 (with no lift) 31x10.5 (with lift) (32" tires if I can find a good deal)
- Headlight Blackout
- HID Projector Retrofit
I am currently in the process of getting the fogs put in but I am at a roadblock. My 08 is an XL so it does not have the fog light harness hiding in the engine bay (at least three people have not been able to find it yet). I went to the dealership and had them get me the part numbers for everything I would need to instal the fogs. Got everything ordered and mostly everything seams to check out. The lights are obviously the correct thing, and the fog light switch is correct. The switch is the kind that you turn like normal for lights and the pull out for the fog lights. The one thing that did not check out was the "harness/wiring" that was ordered. It has the connector to the lights but then goes to bare wires, as if they are supposed to get spliced into another wire somewhere. So I am just going to assume that this part is not correct and I need the actual wiring harness that would go from the fuse box to the lights themselves. I have searched high and low but I cannot find a part number for this harness.
I do see that bugmam has created some harnesses but I am unsure if it would work with the switch setup that I have. I really want to be able to run them just like normal. I am thinking of going to a junkyard and pulling the harness in hopes I can find a truck with it still in tact. What else would I need to pull besides the harness in the engine bay? Is there something that I need from the dash? I looked in the dash already and actually have the new switch already installed and it plugged right into the existing connector that the original switch was connected to. So I assume that they are the same no matter if it had fogs or not and all I would need is from the fuse box to the lights.
I have read every thread possible on putting in OEM fogs but it seams when people find a solution they do not update everyone and let them know what works so it just leaves a dead end. I have also searched every variation of my question possible. If you guys with factory fogs can help me figure out what I am missing that would be awesome!
