Regarding 2000 Ranger dieing when stopping
Howdy! I've had my 2000 Ranger for about 3 years now. I've done all regular maintenance on it ( tune ups, oil changes, change fuel filters, etc.) Well last week, I get a Service Engine light on as well as an ABS light on. I took up to Auto Zone and they have one of those handheld scanners. The scanner showed throttle position sensor, ABS Speed Sensor, and a code that the scanner didnt know. The code was 1120. Ever since these lights came on my truck has been wanting to die if not dieing when I go to stop. Also my speedometer stopped working but will sometimes work when I get on the highway and go past 60. Anyone have any ideas of where to start? Someone said that there could be an electrical problem and not having enough power go to my sensors. I know nothing about cars at all. I'm just trying to see where I need to start.

P1120 is another TPS code. The TPS is a sensor on the throttle body. If I had to guess, I would say that the TPS is the stalling cause. Without the correct idle position voltage going to the PCM, it doesn't know that it is supposed to go into idle control mode and activate the IAC.
Unlike later trucks, the speedometer signal on your 2000 is taken from the ABS sensor on the rear axle housing. Check to be sure it's plugged in and there's no wire damage. After that, you may want to replace the ABS sensor. They do sometimes fail and are fairly inexpensive and easy to install.

Would my IAC (idle air control) have anything to do with it. My truck use to always idle way too high when I stop, then out of no where it just stopped, thats when my truck started to die. Any more help on this one?
