What octane gas are you guys running? Notice any difference in gas mileage from one to the other? Some of this new ethanol blend is starting to make my truck run like crap, so I switched over to 93 to see if it would help. Just wanted to see what y'all were running.

All the gas we have around here is ethanol blend, can't get regular any more.

87 gas. Ethanol blend sucks, but that just means you'll have to run some injector cleaner thru your truck a bit more often is all.

89. When I had my Mustang with the 4.0 SOHC, I ran some 91 through it to clean the injectors and such and it was doggy!!!

Yeah, you typically see 85, 87 and 91 at pumps here in Colorado.

I ran 87 in my Bronco for years, until a year or so ago I started running 85. Haven't felt any difference. Both my trucks run great off of 85.

idk why people pay for something they're trucks aren't meant to run. if you have a tune for anything other than 85 or 87, go for it but if you don't you're just wasting the extra few cents because it wont make any difference and the people who say it "runs better" just have that in their head

Normally 87-10% ethanol, but I KNOW FOR A FACT that my truck runs better on 91, because there is a fairly large hill in front of the gas station I normally get gas at, and if i decide to run 91-no ethanol for a change, I feel the difference. When I'm going up the hill, I feel the 87 run out of the line and the91 hit the engine, it sounds smoother, better, cleaner, and i have a bit of horsepower and torque gain, maybe 1hp and 1ft-lb, It's a subtle but noticeable difference.

Your just wasting money putting higher octane in. Ford made it run on 87 for a reason

I use 87 because that\'s what\'s the truck was designed to run on. How many ford vehicles require anything other than 87? Not many.

x2. I don't think it's better, and I normally don't use anything higher than 87, but if I do, it's jumpy and quick and excitable lol

It really depends on altitude, and what is healthy to run at that altitude. The higher the altitude, the lower the octane rating you can run. Hence at a high altitude like Denver (a mile high...and way higher in the Rocky Mountains) it is ok to run 85.
