oil pump

On my 2000. The oil pressure gauge keeps jumping around from middle to no pressure. I think the pump is going bad. But I don't know where the darn thing is or how to replace it. Was wondering if someone could chime in and at least tell me where it is and if you think it is the pump too.

Are you sure it's the pump and not just the sending unit.

I don't know, why I'm asking. But then again, I don't know if it will ever get fixed. Wife said it died on her last night coming home from work. She says it threw a piston. Going to get it home tonight and try to find out whats going on...

With high mileage it could have thrown a rod or seized up. Rod and main bearings could be excessively worn causing clearances that are to great therefore no oil pressure.

Either way, to get to the oil pump you'll have to drop the oil pan.

^^
I don't think it is that. The head was just rebuilt 5k miles ago. Though I think it dying again last night is due to the same thing as before. Wife says it sounded the same as before when it died.

But thanks for telling me where the Pump is.

It didn't seize because I got it to start. Just made a SUPER loud clanking sound. We pushed the truck back and forth and as the motor turns you can hear the clanking.

Yup yup, My Grandfather said I can replace just the bottom half "short block". So I am thinking of this since I had the top half redone 6k miles ago.
