the bedsides will not support the weight of a tire and will rip right through. There was a guy on here that did it and it destroyed his bed.

make a custom bumper that has a swing away for the tire rack.

chad is right about the bed not supporting the weight. broncos and BIIs were designed to handle that weight on the tail gate mainly cuz of the enclosed area and the extra reinforcements that were put in at the factory.

since our beds are open, it would make the bed start to twist from the weight of the tire.

im going to purchase 32's but i need to mount a hitch and was told that it wouldnt fit with the hitch on there.
plus i like the look of being able to see the full size spare on a 4x4 but i dont want to give up the bed space

that website has some pretty good ideas. i wonder if they can offset the tire towards the hinge so you can mount a gas tank next to the tire.

I couldn't even get my 31" under the bed of my truck. It just wouldn't fit. the orginal spare had a hard time fitting too.

I've thought the same thing after seeing some nice ones on an explorer site.

That tire gate thing is pretty cool. The more I look at these the more I like them. I might have to try and make one of these, maybe the prerunner style.

Interesting, my stock 225/70-15 barely fits under my bed and it rubs the Reese hitch that I have now.
