I bet the F150s are cheaper because it's cheaper to produce them in the huge numbers that they do. Sounds weird, but the ranger just doesn't get made in the numbers that the F150 does, so each one is gonna be a bit more pricey. I could be completely off, but that's one explanation that seems reasonable to me.

Think of the tooling and engineering expenses involved in a new truck. The ranger was paid off years ago, the new f-150 has fresh bills related to it.
I think its base price vs base price. The dealers don't want to sell base price vehicles. The add ons (upgrade to a 4.0) comes with a larger profit. Heck, a $20,000 f-150 can easily hit $35 with add ons.
