Winch Setup
I've been thinking, when I sell my mustang, I'll have at least 700 bucks, and I need a winch.
So, I'm getting a front mount hitch, MileMarker PE8000 winch, and a reciever winch mount.
I found the hitch receiver on the internet
I found the winch on the internet
But I can't find the winch reciver mount...
Can someone help me out ??
Thanks!!

Check with neil(LILBLUE04FX4L2), there are different front hitches some are higher/better than others.
You might consider the 299$ winch from harbor freight.. I am almost positive its made in the same factory as the mm 8000

Wow, I just looked at the wieght of that winch...80lbs!!!
That's to friggen heavy to have to pull out of the toolbox, and try to put on the front or back receiver!!!
Now, I'm looking at the Warn 9.0RC...54lbs!!

There is a flaw in your thinking. the 1100$ winch has ROPE on it..
the MM has CABLE the cable alone is like 35#
just take off the steel cable and replace with winch rope..
for about 30-35# lighter.
saying you wouldnt buy store brand winch is like saying
"I wouldnt buy a summit bodylift they suck but PA bodylifts rule"
when they are both the same exact thing.
If you wouldnt buy the harbor freight winch dont buy a MM 8000 because
They ARE the same. and made in the same factory. I researched winches
for a couple weeks before buying mine...
Its all depends on what you want to spend.. for 400$ you could have
a Harbor freight winch thats mechanically the same as the mm8000 winch
same line rate.. same control etc. with syn winch rope.
or you can spend 1000$ for a warn with syn winch rope.
If you mount it perm. its all gonna be funky after a few years on the front anyway.
Edit: actually I have a harbor freight local to me.. I just buy the 40$ service plan and if it craps out they replace it no questions asked :).
In the end I decided I wanted a hydro winch or thats probably what I would
have done for as much as it gets used.
Also make sure you upgrade your battery and perhaps your alternator and wiring. Warn winches can draw upwards of 450amps...

You just have to order the rope afterwards..
Probably about 130-150$ if you want amsteel blue.
Cable has its issues too the main one being it weighs a ton and we dont
really need or want any more weight hanging off the front of the truck.
also if the rope breaks it will drop to the ground not cut someone in half.

harbor freight brand... 299$
the roller fairlead is 25$ extra..
some comparison stats
MM Line speed (in feet per minute): 13 (no load), 11 (2000 lbs.), 6 (6000 lbs.), 4.5 (8000 lbs.)
HFLine speed (in feet per minute): 13 (no load), 11 (2000 lbs.), 6 (6000 lbs.), 4.5 (8000 lbs.)
the remotes are the same.. the electrical boxes the same..

Its actually 3/8 cable on the mm if im not mistaken and 5/16 on the harbor freight.
I'd get 5/16 amsteel blue its cheap I highly doubt you will break it unless you cut it on something.
www.peakempire.com call him on the phone tell him you are from pirate4x4.com
and he will give you like 10% more off their website prices(it was cheaper than rockstomper and 3-4 other places i checked)
on top of that the guy knows wtf hes talking about if you have any
questions. He also told me if I somehow manage to cut mine he would
splice it for free(just shipping)
oh and speaking of www.pirate4x4.com
its a GREAT place to read on but if you post WOW they are harsh
its like getting bent over by a big black guy named ben!
Rand
Edit I just checked their website and the prices are lower so maybe
you dont have to call now for the addition discount
100'x5/16 = 129.99$
5/16 amsteel blue = 13700# rating
5/16 steel cable = 9500#
3/8 steel cable = 14400#
I would recommend against more than 100ft it will get jammed up esp with
the abrasion guard on it. Maybe even get 90ft then a 50ft extension if you
need more than 90ft, also you would get more leverage/pulling with less
wraps on the spool.
Mine came with 100ft of 3/8 cable and 100ft of the 5/16 rope fills it up enough that I wouldnt want 125ft. This is exactly what they told me too
even though he could have sold me more.
