I am also looking into buying a K&N cold air intake. On two differnt websites they have one thats (fuel injection performance kit)

Those intakes are the same.

The pushrod 4.0 has more torque than the SOHC
while the SOHC motor is good for 210 hp and 245 lbft or so.

yes but what rpm are they making those numbers at? the pushrod makes those numbers at a much lower RPM than the SOHC, which is why it is really a better engine for trucks you want that grunt without bringing the rpms up.
but the SOHC really likes to move when you get those rpms past 3000

^^True... it is kind of nice though because towing (SOHC) with my boat at 65-70 on the freeway puts me right around 3000 rpms in 4th gear...
Actually if you look at the peak torque of modern engines (not diesel) the torque peak is a lot higher in the RPM range then it use to be. Engineers have found that a flat torque curve thats starts out low (2000rpm or so) and gradually builds (or maintains) as the rpms increase is better for all around towing (city, hwy, start and stop)

I don't know where the 4.0 OHV engine gets the reputation of having more torque than the 4.0 SOHC engine. The both have the same torque at 1,600 rpm. Below that rpm the OHV engine has from 3 to5 lb-ft more torque down to 1,000 rpm. Above 1,600 rpm the SOHC engine has more torque and has close to 13 lb-ft more torque when the OHV peaks at 2,750 rpm. The SOHC engine also does not drop off as much in torque after its peak compared to the OHV.
That does not mean the OHV engine in not a good engine but does not have better torque numbers than the SOHC engine unless you want to operate at 1,500 rpm or less. Neither engines do very well at those low rpms.

I've had both engines and they are both great. The OHV has enough power for just about any situation, it seems like it has a heavier flywheel giving it a torquey affect. The SOHC is great, it likes revs, you can run it off the tach, grab another gear and it will pick up where it left off. It seems like it has a lighter flywheel then the OHV as you have to feather the throttle when taking off in first where as the OHV you can just slowly let out the clutch. Both are great but the SOHC whoops the OHV all around.
