you'll actually lose power during the hotter months of the year with increased IAT's.
waste of money. I got my K&N for FREE and got rid of it for cheap on craigslist since it made the truck worse.
it was pretty bad, my truck couldn't even break the tires loose from a stop, pedal to the floor when it was installed. Threw the factory intake on and it lit them up like nothing. Get a motorcraft air filter and leave the intake alone

The idea of a Cold Air Intake(CAI) is believable, which is why they sell them and why people buy them.
The actual reality, after dyno testing on most popular brands, is that they do not add power or MPG, and yes in some cases they lower power and MPG.
This is because all newer vehicles already have good CAI's
The days of a big round air cleaner housing sitting on a carb and sucking air from the engine bay are gone.
This is where CAI's came from, and in those days it did help, auto makers saw this and added CIA to production cars.
But some like the sound of an open CIA intake, if that is what you are after then spend the money.
It would be the same as changing the muffler to get a better sound, old muffler works fine but new model muffler can sound better, and no one expects to get more power with a new muffler, lol.

Also you have a turbo (stxdangerranger). An N/A motor can only suck so much air regardless how big the intake is so opening it up won't have much of an effect except sound. When you talk forced induction it shows a gain because the turbo forces the motor to accept more air and by nature it can draw more ambient air because of that. So basically you have other mods that allow the CAI to be functional where as a N/A motor just can't do anything with it. it may draw it in but it will just bottleneck in the intake without the extra help of forced induction to push it through.

That isn't exactly true. Cold Air Intakes hold some value still. With the proper tune and a full intake, pipe and all. My turbo focus has measurable gains with it.

But lets qualify it, so there is no confusion:
Stock engine with stock air intake system on North American sold production car/truck made in the last 30 years.
3rd party CIA properly installed will, for sure and absolutely, not add any horsepower or torque.
Production air intake systems are designed at 150% capacity, this allows for air cleaner to get dirty before performance is effected.
Air plenums are also designed above capacity and to minimize turbulence.
There are hundreds of anecdotal stories about power increases with CAI, red spark plug cables and glittered radiator caps, these have one thing in common, all tests on these have shown anecdotal stories to be "overstated", lol.
There is nothing wrong with CAI, or a new muffler, as long as you are doing it for looks and sound.
Waxing the car or truck would make it faster than either of those through.
