Tell me what you guys think...

So, i'm faced with shipping my cobra out to Ohio @ $1700 or driving it, which will cost alot in gas and depreciation... about the same, if not less...
neither of those I like, but if it happens, i'll drive it.

I can't tow the Cobra on a flat bed due to the ranger only having the 2.5L motor and a standard..

Here's what I'm thinking...

Trade my truck in for (hopefully $2500 to 2700) this guy ----> http://www.truckworldusa.com/vehicle/387/

I figure with tax, and other fee's it would be like $10,800. Doing rough math, guessing my trade in for $2500 that would leave me with $8300 to pay. I could do about $5,000 cash and then put the rest on a card.

I already want to get rid of the ranger, and I bet this 00 4x4 4.0 should be able to handle the cobra on a flat bed fine.

Do you think it's worth it? Yes/no, why? I'm really stressing over this one, so any input would be helpful!!!

How abour these? I know it's a pain... but I'm relying on the ranger experts now!

I basically want the 4.0 4x4, so that I know it could haul the cobra, and get me through the winter months there in Ohio.

i would sell the ranger in cali and ship the cobra to ohio and buy your new truck there... you will easily make up the shipping cost in the price difference in trucks between ohio and cali

sell the ranger here, drive the cobra there.

Think of how boring a tow run of that length would be changing lanes, getting up to speed, gassing up every 200 miles from the tow weight

VS

A real adventure and time to bond with your Cobra.

Think about that drive in anything but the cobra.

I have a 2003 Mach 1 with 9,000 miles. I think of all the fun I could have had putting another 20,000 miles on it.

You know, I thought about that... but I just have too much crap to try and cram into the Cobra :( shipping the Cobra would be 1700 and then lord knows how much to ship my stuff. :(

I like the ideas tho guys!!!

Are you leaving the Air Force? If you are still in, does Uncle Sam not take care of it?

I'm doing a "Palace Front" where I'm a reservist the next day. I'll be working as a civlian @ WPAFB... and do reserve weekends, pretty sweet deal.
BUT
Uncle sam will only pay for me to move to Washington state... which is about 800+/- miles from here. Beavercreek, OH is about 2350 miles... they will only pay me for the 800. Kinda poopy.

If I show a pic, someone will tell me it needs to be lowered. No customizing while I am the owner of it.

I really don't like the idea of towing a car long distances with a ranger. I have a 98 4.0 and I wouldn't tow a car 500 miles let alone from cali to ohio.

As for the prices. I bought my 98 with 62,000 miles 2 years ago for 8,000. So that first one is highly over priced.

I would say sell your ranger. Rent a truck of some kind do the tow. Buy a truck in ohio.
