I just lost the rearend in my 98 Ranger a week ago. I was just wandering if I should get the stock rearend or if I should upgrade and if so to what? And one more question the differential tags were missing of the front so I'm not sure on the numbers anyone have any idea what they would be for a 98 3.0 4x4 your help would be very appreciated.

 

If you push it upgrade. If you just do light duty daily driving I'd just get a salvage yard piece.

I would get 4:10 gears for sure. They will make a world of difference with the 3.0

 

you got to match up the gears with the ones in the front dif

so you will have to take the pan off the rear to find out what you got and go from there

 

look on the white sticker inside your door panel for the axl codes
