Hahah i am enjoying this thread..

I dont see why anyone is sad over losing an engine that is slow as hell and gets mpg i wouldnt brag about...

My friend and i used to race our trucks 4.0 vs 3.0 and it wasnt even pretty.. his was 2wd so it was like still 500 - 600 lbs lighter too..

I will say that it's a reliable motor but it's was just too much of a slug.

Exactly! Who cares if the 3.0 is slow. If someone buys a ranger for speed, then they are not in their right mind.

i don't mind the lack of speed in the 4.0, it was a peppy motor. what i like the most is i can still turn 35s with 3.55s in the axle. and its about the same as 4.88s were in wyoming. I would HATE to have a truck that couldn't haul a decent size trailer or not have the ***** to turn some meats, if you want fuel efficency get a damn car.

thats the problem with morons these days, they all want a truck 'because its the cool thing' but then they b!tch about the fuel economy, DON'T BUY A TRUCK IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT FUEL MILEAGE! buy a truck because you need it, or have a use for it.

FWIW, I have springs at both ends of my suspension. Bilstein coilovers at the front and deaver F31 2.5 inch lift leaf packs in the rear. Little more heavier duty than your heavy duty suspension that's standard; the SAME 4x4 suspension you have since you're a Sport. Sport = former EDGE package, 2wd or 4x4 the EDGE package came with, gasp leaf springs in the rear, or "springs" in your "mechanic slang", and torsion bars up front. I dare say a FEW [EDGE's] actually had coilsprings up front, but not standard. Matter of fact, all rangers are rear leaf sprung from factory.

Don't you have some more parts to be chrome plating or polishing? Chrome don't get ya home...

...and uneducatedness gonna get ya hurt on the boards. You might calm down some before D schools you. He doesn't take pitty and we enjoy his 'satire' as he likes to call it.

I would beg to differ. Ricers all talk about their 100hp per liter.. too bad most only have 2 or less of them
250/Liter in my case.

2 of your "Litres" would be plenty to power the truck better than the V6 Vulcan, with better mileage.

thanks for proving my point.

Um......what?

My dad has been a mechanic all his life, and he has never once called the entire rear suspension "Springs" for short. Not the rear solid axle either.

Hell, all my uncles are mechanics too, and if they do use a nickname for the axle, it's what it's number is, like D44, or 8.8. Never "Springs".

You're an idiot. Plain and simple.

And if you were any smarter, you would realize most of us "internet" people are actually REAL people. We go out and make a living, just like you, but we don't blow all our earnings on "Chrome Mods". We instead blow it on other crap.

A lot of us guys have actually done all the work to our trucks ourselves, or with the help of buddies/family members. We don't pay others to install our crap.

So before you go pretending like you are an all knowing being (and for what it's worth, YOU ARE NOT GOD, so don't act like it, punk), maybe sit back and re-read what you are about to post. Maybe, JUST MAYBE you'll realize what you are about to say and hit the backspace button.

Since jimmeh just schooled you, theres no reason for me or anyone else on here to do so. with the "springs" you are talking about, it just proves you are clueless. No body in their right mind refers to a solid rear axle with leaf springs as "springs" for short. Rangers can have torsion bars up front or coil springs, they are all built on the same frame since 1998 reguardless of motor.

Let me guess your rear springs are better than mine to? hence why its 2 inches taller in the rear, or its just the fact you have blocks, but the leaf spring packs are the same.

oh so now everyone agrees all of the sudden that the 3.0 usually has heavier suspension then the 2.3's out there? wow i got called names for nothing....ok ill post these obvious pics anyways maybe more later if you still dont believe a 3.0 ranger weighs alot more than a 2.3 and the lift decreases take off and gas mileage DUH not to mention you can hardly find 1 later 2000's 2.3 supercab they are extremely rare fleet models

2008 2.3 xlt

2008 3.0 xlt 2wd

I've done a lot of research, cross-referenced part numbers and even ran a few over under a board to see how well they compressed. Your ' Tech ' friend needs to go back to school. THAT is the fact your leaving out. The Spring rate for the 4-bangers and 3.0 on coil suspensions is the same.

How I tell you go go take your pictures so I can LAUGHT AT you, n00b?

Sometimes its better to keep your mouth shut and let people believe your an idiot whom has to rely on everyone elses ' word of mouth ' then to open your own mouth and prove it.

Your best bet.. just go away.

hey Cher (rofl nice pic), i just posted them.

still not talking about the 3.0 ranger anymore, eh?

I'll bring it back:

I also had a '91 ranger with the 3.0 and it was always so disappointing...

Is this the same truck (yours) you claim will beat supercharged 4cyl cars? Didn't think a stock FX4 would be quicker than my bolt-on 5.0 5-spd . . .
