Leak, can a noob fix it?
Hey guys
Great forum, spent that last several hours just browsing instead of doing what i came here for.
I have found a leak, I'm not that vehicle savvy, i change oil/fuel filter and brake pads/shoes but that's about the extent of it.
Judging by the color of the fluid that's weeping out when not under pressure it's the power steering or transmission, when the truck is running a very fine jet of fluid sprays out from a rust hole in the line closest to center of truck.
Now my question, can i repair this myself? if so where would i get the parts?
Also will it be ok to drive?, wife and i need both vehicles at the moment
Any help appreciated
Will hopefully get some truck pics up soon
Regards
Anton

cheese man strikes again! your radiator is leaking as well as the trans lines, the trans cooler is not visible in any of the pics (rubber lines run up to it infront of the condenser) so not sure how you can tell its leaking?
anyway, as everyone said, get some 3/8 rubber hose (use fuel line not vacuum hose, the vacuum or plain rubber hose will deteriorate) and just cut them back and use new clamps too

Thats past the coating, if there even is any, other than the zinc chromate on the steel. Those flakes are the steel tube rusting away.
Remember, that same zinc chromate coating is on a lot of things the coolant touches.....

Battery is on otherside of engine compartment.
Not sure what has caused the corrosion in such a defined area, there were no other leaks or spills in the engine bay area, only other leak i've had since we bought it from in Oct 03 was the rear dif seal.
Thanks for all the help
