I cant believe I am asking, having trouble with shifter ****

So my 3.0 liter ranger is stick. The top piece that has where 1st, 2nd, and so forth has some "set screws" I guess you can call them. Well I want to take that off but none of my allens fit it was to small than to big. Is it not an allen im i suppose to do something else, maybe someone stripped it, idk. Yeah this is dumb.

Hey, it is a 99'. None of it is sticking out to grab, should i just take something skinny hit that with a hammer and see what happens. I was gonna try this i just didnt want to mess threads up if they were threaded.

Mine wasn't threaded. I used vise grips that looked like a clamp not the pliers and when I twisted it broke the glue and came right off. Doing this did put two small dents in the shifter ****.
