Tired of having to replace parts!! Wheel cylinder went out the other day, was find and cool about that. Replaced that today with no problems.
Order new shocks for it last week, went to put them on and it had to be a *****!!!! Front shock studs were just spinning with the wrench. Went to the rear ( was pissed at the front and thought the rear would be esay). Nope they had to be a ***** too. Who ever put the old shocks on had them troked down like a mother******!!! snaped one of the shocks bolts and only got on F-ing shock done. 5 hrs and one shock done.

Im taking it to the shop tomarrow. just tired of it being a *****!

Oh I forgot to say that I was planing on leaving tomrrow for New York. Also when I said F it and called it a night. The front end was sitting higher than the rear and was stiffer than ****.

You know, the upper shock bolt on the front has flats on it for a 1/4" open end wrench to hold the bolt still while you remove the nut?

 

Tryed that. Just stripped the top of the studd.

Maybe ill go deer hunting with it first.

Nah. I used to love my truck but then it just started falling apart. No biggy at first but thousands of dollars later it has gotten old. Fixing the same problem over and over again is not fun. Its like doing the same sex position over and over again.

Dude, it doesn't hurt to ask for help! Front shocks are really easy to do with two people and the proper tools.

The rear shocks...well they just suck. Crap flies up and hits the bolts, especially with Ohio winters. My bolts weren't put on that tight and when I took them off I snapped both lower bolts. Go to the hardware store and buy new stainless ones. Problems solved.

And I'm in town for another couple days, if you need a hand let me know! I'm not that far away!

 

I had about 3 ppl their. One said the fronts are a ***** to do when the spin. He did his and the welding the old shock to the shaft.

I was planning on leaving tomarrow at like 5am but thats out of the question. Im just going to call the shop tomarrow and see if they can get me in. I would try to do it myself but the front end is sitting higher than what it was before and its making some noise. Thanks anyway tho.

 

Not another damn thread complaining about vehicular maintainence. Jesus people...just sell your vehicles and buy a bicycle...then you'll complain about WD40ing and brushing the damn chains.

In my case a new slave cylinder every year is not regular maintenance. That is just plain being a POS.

 

do the front shocks have a special tool? i never replaced mine

I know i just bought a fancy DD socket deal for some shocks/struts.. it goes on the top of the shock shaft to hold it while you use a wrench to turn the nut.

 

Over 260 000 miles on mine and the latest thing I've had to do was an alternator...which was the original one.

My truck never seems to have any little problems, it's always just regular wear and tear stuff that just bites the dust from regular use.

Gotta say, I've probably got one of the most reliable vehicles on the road right now and couldn't be happier. Though the gas milage sucks ***.

and ya...11mpg sucks...and spending money on regearing seems too expensive still to be completely justified....but i am kinda a jew right now...

 

For the fronts. Just take a big fukcing Vice Grips and get it on the top of the shiny part of the shock. Clamp down tight and then try getting that nut off. Worked like a charm for me.

For the rears.....two words.....Impact Gun! Or Breaker Bar!

years ago i tried to work on my Eclipse the day before a big road trip...just changing out brake pads. I broke three of the 5 studs on one wheel...had an Ernst day that day!

 

I guess ya'll aren't hard enough on your trucks.. i have had very little problems with parts that i don't abuse.

 

I had to take a hack-saw to the front shocks to end up removing them!
The nut was just spinning on the threads. I was pissed after trying for hours. So, out came the hack-saw!

With the rear shocks, the nut ended up destroying the treads when they were trying unthread. Because the treads were wasted, the bracket is now pretty much junk. So out comes the drill... now I'm drilling out rivets. That'll **** you off!

Since junk yards around me won't let the customer pull parts, it was a nightmare trying to explain to the dude which bracket I needed. When they figure it out, they send someone out there with a cutting torch. 3 hours later I get a call saying the part was ready to pick up. On the counter was a piece of frame with my bracket riveted to it.

So I go home and get back to drilling rivets! Which sucked.
