So...How about some more expert eyes

Found me another one for my ranger woods/play truck.

1999 4x4, 4.0L, 5spd, extended cab.
136k miles.
Frame is in good shape (no rust).
-Rhino bed liner
-Interior shot
-No radio
-Claims it runs only needs a batt. but been sitting so long a ant bed and the tire are now lovers. and there was a HUGE yellow jacket nest under the hood ( I ran fast!)
- Rims are mismatched with no tread what so ever left on the 3 flat tires.
-Several dings and scrapes. Rear bumper really screwed
- Needs both front hubs.

Sorry no pics as the yellow jackets were a little pissed I slammed the hood when running.

There asking $2500nego

IF the truck runs what would be a good offer?
And what if it dont run?

Tell him to get a new battery, make sure it passes smog, then make sure it runs. For 2500 bucks, you can have something more decent than what your describing.

No smog checks here.

If it runs would $1k be still to high to offer?

If it's just a woods truck I don't see how it'll make a difference. It runs, has good tires, and no driveability problems except for the cracks...

I was told I could section the frame but i've done that once before and I just got tired of throwing money at this truck. My shop teacher at the college welded the cracks but he said the frame was pretty shot and rotted so it was pointless to weld it. Another member on here had a cracked framd and he said he had his plated and welded and it's held up fine since then.
Here's the cracks:

I would offer 1200 if its in good running order because you have to replace Hubs and tires at the very least and you will probally get matching set of rims too, so take into acount all the stuff that has to be fixed and let them know thats why your lowballing them.

Yea I'd be looking 1k-1200 at most per your discription, I only gave 2700 for mine a few months ago and it only needed PW motor and fluid changes.

Update

Went today and checked it out a little better and took her for a drive.

Motor sounds good no knocking, smoke, BUT its idling rough.

Fluid leak coming from passenger side drum brake. Smelt it but could not tell if it was brake fluid or read end oil.

Doors will lock but you have to manually lock and unlock them.

4x4 system does not work. You twist the **** and nothing happens. I did notice the 4x4 lights would flash at me going down the road.

Truck needs to be aligned.

Clutch seems rather "soft". It was hard to tell with the idle issues.

So for $1300 I can have her

Is she worth it? Should I keep looking for a better truck but spend more money? I can do the work for the most part.

(yes I am looking for strangers on the Internet to validate my purchase or walking away)

if you are looking for something to wheel then definately get a pre '98, the TTB works much better off road than the true IFS and make sure you get a manual T-case

Sounds like it needs a lot of work. The only way I would pick something that's been sitting up is if it was dirt cheap or I knew where a cheap parts truck is. You can easily nickel and dime yourself into a price range where you could have bought something that didn't need all this work.

But on the other hand, if you're not looking to dd it, and have tools, extra time and extra money, have at er.
