so i have the oppurtunity to have a custom roof rack made for the truck

so i have the oppurtunity to have a custom roof rack made for the truck

for a pretty good price.

give me some ideas!
not getting a camper shell anymore.

i remember someone on here with a silver ranger with a rack that extends from the bed over the top of the cab.

give me some ideas here!

I would have one that is over the bed and the top is level with the roof. 6-8 inches deep.

i wouldnt do it if i were you. get a cap then have a rack made to go on top of the cap.

im not buying a new cap. and there aren't any good used ones for sale.

i like the idea that the one guy has with the rack starting in the bed and extending over the cab..

the ONLY downside to that, is my truck gets a foot taller..
it'll still fit in the garage at home, so no biggie. hopefully the tubing isnt too heavy so it doesnt get much more top heavy..

You mean you have done the "Bigger garage door" mod yet. It's easy as pie, all you need is a sawzall and a new door.


I'd raise it to a 12' door if it were me. Ya never know next time around you just may have that 350 dually on 44's you've been eyeing up.

no we have an 8' doors already.
even my dads 08 sierra 2500 with 6+" of lift fits in there.

i agree. almost looks like an alien space ship thats about to lift the truck into the air.
if it sat lower i'd like it.

looking at a surco rack sold from summit also..
thats a last resort.

I'd do one that could be folded out and so i could put a tarp over it and it doubles as shade.
