Are performance chips legit?

I've seen some adds for easy to install performance chips that make bold claims on improving vehicle performance that wont void your warranty. Are these things worth the money or just trumped up garbage?

The GForce module installs into your FORD RANGER's engine bay and is connected via 2 wires that plug into the IAT sensor.
It's a load of crap dont buy! The way this "works" is the $60 chip they are selling is nothing more then a resister that tricks your ecu into thinking your in colder temps then you really are then the ecu adds more fuel. Now this is all fine and you may see MABY 3 hp. But then your o2 sensors will tell the ecu hey wait there is to much fuel trim some out....Then your 60 bux is gone..

In short don't buy.

thanks for the heads up, do all "performance chips" attach to the IAT sensor and work the same way?

No there are real performance chips out there i can't rember who makes them i think one was bammachips and there are a few more im sure. But that one is not, any "chip" that ataches to the iat sensor all do the same thing. The only way they will make your truck faster is by the lighter wallet you have less strain on teh engine!
