Would you buy this 94 Ranger?

I am new to the forums and looking at a 1994 Ford Ranger 4x4 super-cab v-6 4.0 liter 5-speed 133,000 miles. The only problem is that is has a slave cylinder issue. Guy is asking 1200. Would it be worth buying? Also how much does it cost to replace a slave cylinder? Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Droid2)

Got any pictures? 1200 isn't too bad for a 4X4 extended cab. Not sure about the slave cylinder, but it can't be too expensive.

$1200 actually isn't to bad at all. As long as there isn't any major problems with it and the body is in decent shape. Also my aunt just had her clutch and slave cylinder replaced on her 94 for right around $500.

Do it! That's a pretty sweet deal. Buy the part and do it yourself.

Masteratarms what dealership did you go to? I am from Massillon so it wouldn't be difficult to make it to Tallmadge.

Yeah the body is in good shape a few dents here or there but I'm getting it mostly as a work truck. How long does the 4.0 usually last before having major issues?

When I drove the truck it would have some trouble going into 2nd gear if I tried to go from neutral to 2nd say when coasting into a turn. The owner said it was 4th gear then switched to 2nd. If you leave clutch in it will go into gear. Owner said it is the slave cylinder just want some others advice on it could it be the syncros going bad? Other than that the engine was strong and the body was in good shape.

Another question how hard is it to replace the rear shackels? Is it something I need to do right away? I am looking at a couple other Rangers one is a 4cyl 5sp for $1000 but needs rear shackels. Another is a 94 extended cab 2x4 4.0L 5spd but it has some rust and dings they want 2500 might not sure if I want to pay that much considering the other 94 I originally posted about is only 1200.

Rear shackles and shackle hangars are super easy. It's a common problem on Rangers.

http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...kle-hanger.htm

Autozone sells the hangers for $15 a piece and the shackles for $35 a piece.
