Sport 4x4 Vs Fx4

Fx4 L2 is the top of the line model of Ranger. Bilstein shocks(or ranchos on new models), 4.10 gear ratio, Fx4 only 31spline 8.8" rear end with a gear driven limited slip(all other rangers are 28spline), 4.0 standard, buckets standard, special upholstery, all power options, special unique tow hooks, black flares andvalence comparedto normal XLT rangers having grey plastics), 4dr standard, chrome shifter arm and unique ball on manual trucks, 02 Fx4 and '03 Fx4L2 got a manual transfer case if equipped with manual transmission, 04-05 of a unique grille treatment, etc blahblah.
Sport/Edge have color matched bumpers and flares and grille, vinyl flooring, base model door panels, options galore, 2dr standard, 3.0 standard, 2wd standard, manual doors windows locks standard, etc. Fx4 Level 2 is fully decked out. Virtually only options are color and hitch or no hitch. lol.
Like said above, look at Ford.com at look at the features between the two...pick up a new brochure. Much of the '09 is accurate overview of 01+ trucks. '09 Fx4 is a mix between FX4 Off Road and Fx4 Level 2.
HEADS UP: '02 Fx4 Off Road = '03 Fx4 LevelII. '02 XLT 4x4 Off Road = '03 Fx4 Off Road. There are no '01 FX4 Rangers.

so the 02 fx4 is as good as an 03 lvl2?
thanks for the help.
I was thinking more of a little older ranger to save me some money.

Personally, I'd buy an older FX4 LII if I could find one, rather than a brand new or near new Ranger. 02-03 is definetly the best year for styling, options and uniqueness for the FX4.
Don't let higher miles scare you away either. I have an '02 with a 4.0 and I have over 250 000 miles on it.

When I was looking to buy a new Ranger back in 06, I could not justify paying over 25k for a Ranger. Top of the line or not. I ordered my Sport with every option you could get at the time for a reg cab. My buddy bought his Nismo Frontier brand new around the same time and paid right at the same price as a FX4 but got more truck.

Unfortunately trucks hold their value better than cars do. If you buy a higher mile truck with all highway miles, there's very little wear and tear on it compared to a truck that's been city driven all it's life.
I'd rather pay $8-10k and have it paid off sooner and take some higher miles than be locked down with 4-6 year payments and higher insurance on a new truck.
