Stealerships!!!!!Arrrrrrrrg!!!!

So just for laughs I went to a dealership to see what they would give me for my truck if I traded in to buy another. I have 102000 miles on my Ranger. They inspected it and everything and they came back with $2500. $2500!!!!!! WTF!!!! I couldn't believe it. KBB is at like $7000 even with the miles. I took my key back and stormed out of there. Stupid people.

while i was truck shopping, i went to CarMax before i ended up buying my '02 at JM Lexus, and CarMax offered me $150 for my '96. i also walked out and was insulted.

i could have sold it for 4 times that much, myself, with no problem.

back in December I walked in to the dealer to see what they'd do to get me into an 07 F-150, yeah they wanted to give me $5000 for mine, I told them I owed more than that and I wouldn't go upside down in a loan...

Dude...I wanted to test drive a 05 Frontier(the new style w/ 265hp). Went to the same dealership I bought my truck, even had the same salesman. Drove it, just wanted to see how much it would run me. I bought the truck for $10,588. They offered me $6,000. Mind you...this was about 3 months after I bought it from them. lol.

back when my mom was gettin her escape, we was gonna trade her old '00 Dodge van in on it, they were only gonnna give us 2,000 for it. So dad just bought the escape and then just sold the van himself and got 4,000 out of it.

Yeah, as usual they are some greedy hombres for sure. They offered me less than 300 bucks for my '90 Cougar w/lo miles back in '01 when I bought my Ranger. I sold it for 1100 a few months later. They know most people just wanna unload the "old" wheels and get the new car so they offer $@%, most people cave in and take it.

well see the thing is people. if resale value is say 10,000 they are not gonna offer $10,000.. they are a business and want to make a profit so.. say cut that in half easy... and offer $5,000 just like someone said. most people are wanting to unload a car fast... and face it people 90% of the time when someone wants to trade a vehicle in its because there is something wrong with it they dont want to fix...

just like we traded in my GF 1998 grand am 4cyl.. he only offered us $1300 for it.. we took it for 1 reason.. it needed $2100 in parts to fix it alone..

Well to be honest it was a Toyota dealer. They have a Tacoma that I like and I wanted to see what my payments would be. My truck has been to Ford 3 times for the front pinion seal and I now found that it is leaking from the extension housing seal. But I was still insulted with that $2500.

2500 is REALLY low. i got offered 3200, about half of KBB retail value, for mine and its older, 2wd with a smaller engine and close to the same millage. Id try going private party if you really want to sell it for a decent price

I was thinking about getting the other truck and selling my private party but then I would be stuck with high payments on the newer truck.
