GAS PROBLEM

GAS PROBLEM
I bought my Ranger brand new in June 2009 and ever since the first time i have got gas it has clicked around $4 or $5 dollars like its full. Sometimes it even does it when i put less than a litre in it. And when its around 50L in the tank it shoots gas back out and goes down the side of my truck. I tried putting the nosle half way in the hole and it still clicks. I have squeezed a little bit on the gas handle so it comes out slow and it still clicks. I have had enough of this ****. I have brought my truck back to the dealer 4 times and just last week i wrote a letter to the head office of Ford in Canada. They called me back and told me that they were going to contact the dealer where i bought it from and they were going to contact me back but it has been over a week and i havent heard anything. I own 5 Ford vehicles (2000 f-150, 2008 edge, 2009 ranger, 2005 mustang and a 1997 E-250) and none of them had problems with it before. The dealer told me they have replaced the tank, fuel pump, the neck and the hose that brings the gas to the tank and it still is having problems. If anyone has ever had this problem before and has fixed it please let me know asap so i dont have to stand outside freezing my *** off for 20 minutes getting gas.

I knew someone that had this exact problem, but I don't recall what the fix was. I THOUGHT it was the filler neck, but you said the dealer claims to have replaced that already.
Have you tried a different gas station? I'm guessing you have already, but you didn't mention that. I encountered a gas pump where it wouldn't pump more than a gallon... the pump was defective.

my mom's car (2000 ford taurus SE) does it every once in a while... its annoying but i usually just deal with it. it will pump some fuel then click, let off squeeze it again, click. dammit slowly squeeze the handle and it still does it.. it clicks probably like 6-8 times then finally i can squeeze it wide open and it would be good..
i'ce never looked into because it only does it once in awhile, my 93 ranger doesnt do it.

ive tried different gas stations too. sorry for not mentioning it but yeah the dealer claims that they replaced the filler neck aswell. mine just doesnt like 3 or 4 times, it clicks around 20-25 times. if it clicked once id have no problem with it but 20 times + its just really pissing me off. and with this ****ty service im getting with it (driving 45 mins to the dealer 4 times for the same problem) and not getting a call back from ford(coming on 2 weeks now) its gonna take me a second thought on buying ford again. hopefully i can get something out of this since i am the owner of 5 ford vehicles.

Gas dispenser devices have automatic safety shut-off valves in the handles to prevent overflow when the vehicle's tank is full, and prevent uncontrolled flow if the pump's handle were to be locked in the "on" position and fall out of the filler neck.
These situations combine to create a delicate balance between the flow pressure of the gasoline, the speed gasoline can flow through the vehicle's neck, and the sensitivity of the automatic shut-off valve in the pump handle.
When the situation described in the above question occurs, it indicates that the rate of gasoline flow from the pump exceeded what was allowed by shape and specification of the vehicle's filler neck.

What I do know is that there is obviously something wrong with the filler neck on your Ranger. I have zero issues when refueling my 2008 Ranger.

Evan,
Being you're in Ontario it would be a good idea to check the small hole on the underside of the pump nozzle and make sure it is not plugged with ice.It would be about 10 to 20 mm from the end. Also , when filling , don't let the bottom end of the nozzle tube touch the filler tube. Blocking the small hole off kicks off the nozzle.

Really? I usually drop a match down the tube to thaw the ice out from the whole nozzle...

I got lots of time on the warrenty so thats not a problem. I have tried bringing to the normal Ford dealer that i go to (East Court Ford/Lincoln) but they cant service it there they told me to bring it to the dealer (Freeway). If anyone here in the GTA reads this, never get your Ford serviced there! Very ****ty service!

There's definitely something wrong, and the dealer should be able to fix it. I would look for a different dealer and see if they can help.
That's the biggest complaint I have about Ford.. their dealers suck big time! Of the 6 dealers I've been to in the Ottawa area, there's only one that I've ever had good service from. All the others have either tried to replace parts that weren't broken, or had no idea how to fix the problem.

ok so what i do at work is pump gas.. so you get good at it.....
try pulling it half out when fueling it ,
or turn the pump well fueling, i had to have it up side down for some cars to have it work. but i can all most bet you it well work..
i put gas in to 500 cars a day and every day there is a ton of cars like that and i always get it to work for me..
