The truck had a little accident with a generator cage today. A person in my auto tech class tried to throw the cage over a fence that my truck happened to be parked next to. He misjudged and the cage bounced off the fence and landed on my truck's fender. It would be able to come out with paintless dent removal, but it's on a body curve and already cracked some of the paint, so I get a new fender. I will get pics tomorrow. Anybody know of a chain body shop that usually does good work? I know all places are different, but if you have had good or bad experiences with a particular place, I would like to know. Thanks.

 

give them the piece seperately and get it and put it on yourself, all those other places do crappy work cause thye never tape off what needs to be painted.

 

I'd put it on myself, but I dont feel like lining it up when they can do it better. I'm not great at body work. I have installed a fender before, but it was on a truck where it didn't matter if the lines were off. They will get the fender seprately (I already have a primed one, just need to pick it up on Friday).

 

That sucks dude, good that you already have replacement parts though.

A buddy of mine did somewhat the same thing.

We were working on an two way radio systems antennae and putting new mounts on them, and replaced a pole holding one of the antennas up, he took it out, and tossed it down from the 50 foot top of the building we were on. He tosses it off, and it lands on my hood, luckily it was wooden, and somewhat light weight, so no real damage, just a small ding, nothing I cant handle.

 

Yeah, it was kind of bad just seeing it go down on my truck. I knew it would hit too and I could not do anything...it was like slow motion or something, lol. The guy could have at least thrown it on the other side of the truck so that the bad fender (clearcoat damage) could be replaced! Oh well, you can't choose your accidents.

Sucks that your truck took a hit too, but wood is one of the better things to get hit with!

 

I saw him toss it, and heard it hit metal, the look on his face was like "oh crap." we looked over the edge, and saw it sitting on my hood.

 

Turns out it is a $527 dent! I'm damn glad it isn't coming out of my pocket! It's really not that bad...I would rather spend $527 on wheels or tires, but that wouldn't feel right...the guy dented my truck, but if I'm getting money for the dent it should be to fix it I guess.
