Truck is now dieing while driving down the road...grrrrrrrr

I'm furious at this damn ford now.

I just went to lunch and I was cruising down the street and all of a sudden my truck shuts off. A/C is still pumpin but no power steering and no power nothing. Check engine light comes on and I coast to a stop. Put it in park and fire it right back up again. Continue to cruise around and he died on me again about 15 minutes later. Fire it right back up again and continued cruisin...

What the heck could this be now?

Take it back to the shop that installed it,there is no point costing yourself money in trying to fix it

I need to but heres my dilema. I bought the engine from a seperate place then I got it installed. So do I take it to the place that installed it or do I take it to the guy that sold me the motor? The guy that sold me the motor is trying to tell me that I'll have to pay for a removal reinstall again if it's a bad motor but he'll replace the motor. WTF bull****, that **** should be covered. I'm getting pissed.

fixed tons of these things. you need the drive too. the bearings wear out in the drive(it drives the oil pump) allowing the trigger to contact the inside of the sensor and damages both of them... it will run without it, but most of the time it can make it stall... ur ford dealership has them readily available.

Engine was just replaced less than a month ago with a reman 3.0. A 5.0 would require a new tranny and wiring. Not all of us have second vehicles that we could drive while working on a 5.0.

Reman engine

6 month warranty on new engine, but the guy is telling me ill have to pay my other guy again for install. F that, I'll just take the truck tot he guy that installed it and see if he can figure it out under my warranty with him.

you can check it yourself, i think the bolts that hold it on are 7/32. there are only two of them.... that is to take the sensor off... the rest of it comes out like a distributor.

understandable. just remember, he HAD to take that sensor off the top of the drive, you have to put a sync tool ontop of the drive and set the engine at tdc. If he says he didnt take it off when he swapped engines, he is either lying or didnt do his job and your fuel timing is off which will lead to detonation and premature engine failure!!!!!!

ok im done

You think that would also cause my smoking issue? My truck smokes at initial start in the morning and after its been parked for awhile everyday. The smoke is a light blueish. Almost white.

But it makes sense if he didn't touch the damn cam sync. I made sure to bring it up to him so he would check it. If I only had the tools and the knowledge I wouldn't have to deal with these damn shops :(

Well trucks once again back in the shop again...

My mechanic says he'll try to diagnose if it's the valves leaking or not. and then try to find out about the engine stalling.

this is most likely not it. but i ran mine after fixing my heater control valve the other night, and it dies twice then it wouldnt restart. jus turned, never fired. I checked my sensors and all it ended up being was a 2 loose wires on the coil pack. Now i gotta get a new set of wires b/c the clamps on the wires are bent on those two.

Well this could definitely be an electrical issue or electrical plug issue as well.

I won't know until tomorrow :(

Well I called my mechanic and he said he drove it on the fwy today and had no issues at all... He will drive it again and continue trying to figure out the issue.

I've been researching the stalling issue online some more and came across this:

"Vaporlock"

It is called vaporlock. try replacing your gas cap.It has a small venthole in the middle of cap and after a while it gets plugged with particles. Try this test pull off gas cap and drive a little distance if it doesnt stall out then theres your problem. (vaporlock) when your motor is drawing fuel from your fuel tank it also draws air through gas cap. and if vent in cap is plugged it will draw all the air out of fuel tank by sucking the tank inward until the fuel pump cant pull any more fuel from tank because of pressure) so if you let motor sit for a minute without running air in tank will replenish and vehicle will start up like nothing ever happened.if this is your problem after you test it replace fuel cap. Good luck. 0
Anybody ever heard of vaporlock?
