coil spring removal

how do you remove the coil spring on a 1996 2wd ranger?????

You have to run a long extension down through the coil to the large bolt that goes through the I-beam and radius arm. Its going to be stubern so penetrant and heat are your friend. If you have to disconnect the sway bar, jack up the body and let the I-beam hang down until the top of the coil spring pops out of the bucket. Then get the extension down through the coil and go to town.

so i dont need a spring compressor at all?

No you should not need a spring compressor. If you remove the sway bar and the I-beam still won't drop far enough to release the coil from the upper bucket you can disconnect the radius arm, then I guarentee it will drop low enough, just watch your brake lines so they don't over extend.
