I was at my local ford dealer getting a oil change and I stated talking with the dealerships owner who stated to me that there will be no 2009 Rangers they will be rolling out the F100's in 2009 in place of the Ranger. So it looks like this was the last year for the old Ranger.

my guess is late 2010 for the F100 and it better get decent mpg if they plan to sell any.

 

yea, my dealer told me in february. i heard about it before that.
it's either 08 is last or 09 will be last. they have been selling and ford might keep it around another year if sales keep up.

if it's 08, glad to know i got a final year before it was too late.

 

i hope its 08.

The owner showed me the dealership orders for the F100's which are arriving in late August. So they may be in production as I write this.

 

I think you missed a 5 in there to make it an F150, I know there due around that time.....

 

No..the Ranger replacement is the F100

 

Ford is developing a lightweight, more fuel-efficient pickup truck to slot in below its flagship F-150.

The new pickup truck, code-named P525, is being engineered on the F-150’s platform. But it will be lighter and slightly smaller, supplier and industry sources told Automotive News. The pickup is scheduled to go into production during the first half of 2011 at Ford’s Michigan Truck Plant in Wayne, Mich., sources said.

Ford may call the truck the F-100, bringing back a nameplate used for decades beginning in the 1950s. The new truck is larger than the Ford Ranger. But it might help take the place of that compact pickup, which could go out of production in 2009 when Ford’s Twin Cities plant in St. Paul., Minn., closes. Ford hasn’t said whether the Ranger will continue.

The new pickup is in Ford’s cycle plan, sources said. But it has not received final approval.

 

the pictures i have seen of the f-100 are fugly..ill stick to my ranger..www.pickuptrucks.com has one on there front page..

 

So a guy at a ford dealership is pre selling a truck that not only hasn't had more than a conceptual drawing and hasn't even been officially announced and you think it is already in production and will be out in august? Wow, I have a Bridge in San Fransisco I would love to sell you!

That new f100 is really ulgy the new 09 f150 is sweet though, I would def look into the 4.4 diesel that they are talking about putting in them for the 2010 model year,

 

Don't hold your breath on the f-100 being produced at Michigan Truck. Ford is currently looking into switching the Michigan truck plant over to do the Fusion and bringing all F-150 based Trucks into Dearborn Truck Plant. Ford is trying to switch from a truck and suv business to a more car based company.

I have seen that before. I don't see how they can say that it will be built next to it's big brother when Michigan truck produces the Navgator and the Expedition and that is it. The only plant to make the F-150 in MI is the Dearborn Truck Plant.

 

the rendering on pickuptruck.com is nice but i don't see it happening as one of the first models available. i still feel that ford should consider giving the ranger a slightly longer cab for leg room and a small turbo'd diesel. when i bought my truck, i got a survey to fill out and included this idea in my comments. i know my comments won't go very far, but still tells them how i feel.

i thought i heard when ford was doing their new contract stuff a few months ago, that the expy's were leaving the MTP and that the plant would get a 'new product'. I don't know if they're running 150's through MTP now or what, but I sometimes see a bunch scattered among the expy's and navi's on the lot.

 

I will just go to another country and buy a Barracuda, BT-50 or Ranger!

They are better there anyways. 4doors, ya
