Advice?
Ok, so its been a while since I logged in, posted, lurked... Got a good reason..... Little over 2 weeks ago, got tboned and rolled 3 times totalling my beloved 94 Xlt. All is well, worst of it atm is my left leg has a rod and pins in it, will be looking at some physical therapy in the near future, semi bed ridden, thanks to pain meds am able to get around as need be.
Here is where I need some advice.... Right now, as things look, I may. Of be able to in the future be able to drive a manual transmission. Automatic may be my.only option. I'm good with that I guess, but as I have a lot of spare time, have been looking online at a replacement truck and have found the f150 and rangers to be very close in pricing.
Would you go full size if the opportunity came up or stay with the ranger? I'm on the fence to be honest, loved my ranger, but a full size would be nice as well.

Sorry to hear about the accident man ill pray for a speedy recovery... I'm wondering the same thing what are the benefits of going full size? I love my ranger but I'm thinking of going full size because the ranger is being out grown by my family and we just need a new/used daily driver. Sorry if I thread jacked you jp but I'm curious as to what people say.

Depends on what type of truck you're wanting. Are you comparing the price of a 4x4 Ranger to a 2wd Fullsize? Be a bit more specific with what you're needs are. What years, makes, models of trucks are you looking at? I hate the 98-2003 F150's.
Any truck I get, I'd make sure its 4wd. But thats just because I live in CO with snow, and do a lot of camping.
No one will know what exactly is right for you, but you. Gotta make the call on your own. As others have said, there are benefits to both, but overall, I think the fullsize is more beneficial. I've often been way too cramped in my Ranger, and find that it can be a pain sometime. Can really only haul 2 people comfortably.
Though I do like the size of it sometimes and I LOVE driving a 5 speed over an auto. That I would miss if I went fullsize.
Bottom line, I will be going fullsize in the next year or so. I might keep my Ranger and get a fullsize, or try to find a diesel with a manual tranny.

Thanks everyone. Getting well indeed is priority one for me, really have no choice. Didn't kill me so can only make me stronger I guess. Happened just in time for the new gta.... That should help lol.
Would be 4wd either way, I had the 2wd for some time and it was perfect for what I needed It for but I like the idea of 4wd. I guess my debate is size related.... That sounded bad... But its true Haha.

I would have bought a commuter car whether I was driving my Ranger or not. Crap mileage is crap mileage, 16 mpgs in a Ranger is the same as 16 mpg in an F150. Thats why I bought a cheap gas saver. On the weekends I dont drive the car, I only drive that to work so the F-150 still hauls the toys/family on the weekends.

The first thing I would see is can I fit in a Ranger both getting in and sitting in comfort.
If you need room for the family then you need to consider that too.
If the Ranger does what you need I would get a Ranger.
The Ranger is smaller easier to handle and park.
If you get a 2x the mpg may be higher than the F150.
As stated the Ranger should be lower, part of the getting in thing.
Also, the ride of the two truck is something too, the F150 might it over the Ranger.
If you need room for things and need room to spread out more than the Ranger will allow then thing F150.
These things seem a lot bigger when you are used to a Ranger and driving and parking may be a problem.
My vote is to keep the Ranger if you fit and there is room; you will need to get out and check them out for Fitment.

First off thanks for the advice and well wishes.
Well, as I slumber around healing, my older brother has been going rambo on me and Friday purchased a 94xlt for $300.oo at an auction for me as a project truck. I will be using insurance settlement for fixing it up and customizing it.
Specs? So far what I do know.... 94xlt r cylinder five speed, same specs as my old one. And no, he didn't buy my old tboned truck Haha. Got around 200ooo miles on it. Needs some love as he says. But that ok by me. Will be fun to mess around with and hopefully drive as my doctor is still optimistic on my legs abilities after all is said and done, but I'm keeping my head up and making it a goal to drive a stick again. Will be fun to have an old beater to mess with for sure as I never took the time to do much to my old one.
