I just want your guy's opinion on having parts professionally installed.

I have a few new mods, billet grill and HID's

The grill is not pre-cut and I don't have proper tools with me to cut it here at school, plus I don't want to mess it up. The shop said they have installed many, several on my style Ranger. This makes me confident they would do a much better job than I installing it.

Second, the HID kit. I'm confident that I could wire them up, the issue comes up that I don't have any mounting brackets, the digital slim ballasts are just that, no tabs for mounting or anything. A friend told me he just use outdoor double stick tape and hasn't had a problem in 6+ months.

One other thing, the plus side is that if they mess it up, they have to make it right, it won't be on my dime.

So far I have pretty much done all the mods on my truck myself. Thanks to this site I've been able to do more than I would have previously

Or if you feel like it you can post general comments about professional installs.

 

when i did my lights i went over to a buddies house who is an electrical apprentice. bought him a 30-bomb. we drank and my lights got installed. everybody wins

 

I've had an electrical friend help me with some of my wiring problems, but nothing too intense.

 

The grill I can understand having someone else do it.

The HID ballasts are easy... I double zip-tied them to the front support. No problems.

 

it all depends on how well you trust your workmanship.
If you trust zip-ties and its secured good than i'd say go for it.
But your right, on the plus side is that if anything happens to it, it'll be on your dime.

 

I trust my workmanship well enough, I think I just need to snoop around the engine bay and bumper area and try and find good mounting points.

I think my mind is made up on the grill though, I'd rather people who have done it many times do it for me. I feel like the slightest missed measurement will ruin it.

Plus they can probably do a better job of painting it

 

Yeah, the grill needs to look right. If you're not 100% confident, you'll ruin it (even if it's the smallest blemish, you'll know it's there and bug you FOR-EV-ER)

 

If you don't have the tools let someone else do it. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you always have to.

I tried a grill and screwed it up... I hate it lol.. I would go with professional

 

I agree... if you're doubting yourself you should let someone else tackle it who has done it before.

 

I prefer to install myself but if your doubting it you can turn to the pro's. I've found the quality of the pro's can vary and it's totally defendant on the person doing the work vs the shop so makes it a bit tricky to find the best.
