Muffler Preferences?!?!
I just had an alarm put in my truck a week ago. Made me feel a hundred times safer leaving it parked out in the streets now. I just got mine from circuit city.. bought and installed it was about 375.. it has a shock sensor in it.. plus some other cool things i never new an alarm would have (tells temp. of interior of car on lcd remote! plus some other stuff).. if you wanna know.. the brand i got is Code Alarm, model CA-145.. right now its a two way confirming LCD Remote Control system.. in a couple weeks im getting the remote started added to my remote, along with an auto up/down option.. so my windows will be automatically put up when i activate the alarm. it was worth it to get an alarm!! hope you find one you'll like!!

YOU RANG!!! LOL
well most basic alarms are the same so don't worry about company's too much. now i am usually not close to my truck so i decided not to get a LCD style because it wouldn't be worth the money. if you are clost to your truck then i think that this would be a good investment. remember that they can get expensive though.
your basic alarm will come with a shock sensor and if you want to be like me you could add a "motion" sensor on the inside. also it sounds like you want it to make maybe an audible noise if somebody comes to close to it, talk to you local alarm guy about that and he should be able to help you with that. i would also not do this on my truck because the thing would probably never shut-up because people are always near my truck, but depending on you situation it might be worth your money.
the man who did my alarm, who is also a friend, is named Steve, and can be found over on Ford Truck World. his e-mail is securitydog1@verizon.net
