tire pressure question
tire pressure question
I just replaced the tires on my 02 off road. When i bought the truck (used) it had passanger car rated (4 ply) tires.I replaced them with Light Truck 10ply rated. My question is--How much air pressure should i have in them? They are rated for 80 psi but i don't think this is necessary for normal use.I inflated them to 50psi.May bump them up if i am going to haul a heavy load.Is 50 psi okay or,will it cause them to wear more quickly?
I realize 10 plys are going to ride stiff. That's why i thought lower pressure might soften the ride.Just don't know if lower pressure (35 50 psi) will affect the wear of the tires.????? Also, going to be hauling aged manure for my garden .This stuff is wet and heavy.I don't think 4 plys would hold up.

If the ride at 50psi isn't bothering you, leave them there and keep an eye on the wear. 50 may be a little on the high side. FWIW I would never put 10 plys on a ranger. I won't even run them on my F150, too stiff and the truck isn't heavy enough and doesn't haul enough weight
