So this works on the 28 spline 8.8" Ranger axle? If so I'm going to the junkyard next week because I know there is a SN95 in my local yard that was hit head on.

From what i've seen it doesn't have anything to do with the spline count. Since it bolts onto the backside of the flange and works from there.

Ford makes a rear disk kit for the 31 spline axle

I looked online and saw 31 spline and 28 spline under the sn95 So it probably doesn't matter.

From what i've seen (this is my disclaimer), you have to notch/cut a section of the backing plate (has 4 bolts) out. So there will be three retaining bolts, and the plate will slide over the axle tube. From there it bolts to the back side of the flange where the drum backing plate bolted to. Rotor slides over the lugs, caliper bolts to the bracket that bolts to the backing plate.

I didn't get the cobra brakes like the original poster of that thread A) too expensive B) not at the junkyard, probably ever C) I want to keep my 15" rims. But they are about the same idea

there is 28 and 31 spline. the 31 spline in a explorer the bolt pattern is completely different where as a mustang like he said you can use just 3 of the bolts by cutting it. not wonderful IMO but hell it works

I'm not crazy about cutting a bolt out, but it should be fine. There is a guy on ebay that sells them pretty much slotted already. Those plus the caliper adapters are still $90. I paid $70 with calipers, rotors, and hardlines (which I'll tweak to what I need. I got them with the deal, and I have the right ends as well.)

I may buy those rotor eccentric rings he has for sale ($15). It won't be until summer or so until I get these brakes on, so I have time..

What size rear rotors are those caliper brackets for? How does the parking brake work on them?

Great find man, keep us updated on the install!

Well I won't be installing them for a bit. Since I have to pull the axles and give time for any 'hiccups' in the plan. Sometime between now and summer I'll get to it.

The rotors are 10.65". Nothing huge, but an improvement over drums. Also I get to keep my 15" wheels.

The e-brake on the Mustang works off a cable, which pulls down and pushes the caliper. I need my e-brake, so I will make something work. Either with the Ranger cables, some rigging up, or getting some junkyard Mustang cables. I'll get it to work one way or another.

That seems like a fairly easy conversion. I want rear discs! Drums FTL.

We've got quite a few up here that still let you, but there's probably more that are complete security and safety ***** and won't let you.

I love wandering around JY's. You never know what kind of cool stuff you might come across.
