TOTALED MY RANGER
#26
I've been on these and many other forums for a minute (read decade) and have never seen someone say the truck didn't protect them. I'm not saying Rangers are the safest vehicle out there, but you aren't likely to get hurt in one.

na i wont mind and to dan the man i am gonna have to drive my sisters old Focus for a while till i can get somthing else cant decide I always said my next truck will be a 2005 Tacoma supercharged and manual and stuff but that accident made me love my ranger alot more haha so i cant decide
Praise God you're alive. You are lucky....count your blessings.
Don't give up either. Body damage can be fixed. That Ranger saved your life! Your life can't be replaced or fixed.
I've made similar mistakes, but sometimes I need a good scare or tough lesson to actually learn from my mistakes. Don't ever drive a truck like it's a Ferrari again, and you'll live many happy days. Remove the distractions, and apologize to your friend for being dumb. Own up to your mistake, learn from it, and rebuild your ride!
Again...Praise God you and your friend are alive.

Let's see...
1) Good weather. Too bad you can't blame it on the snow.
2) You said it yourself... you were going around a TIGHT CORNER, hit gravel, and started to fishtail. Then you overcorrected and flipped the truck. Based on the pictures and your story, you HAD to have been speeding.
3) Speeding in a residential area like that? That's the only reason why you're the douchebag. What would you say if someone were to flip their car in front of your house? What if there was more traffic? What if there was ANY traffic. And the BIG one... what if you HIT SOMEONE?!?!?!?!?
I could care less that you flipped your truck. There are perfectly valid reasons that would explain a driver flipping their truck and having it NOT be their fault. It's the fact that you did it where you were and WHY. If you only had hit a tree or a sign post, you'd still be a douche.
That's why I say again... poor truck.

Yeah i fishtailed mine one morning on the way to work in the rain and i was lucky i didnt freak and i managed to steer in the direction my rear is going and got it straight before i hit anyone or the dry pavement sideways cause i know sliding from wet to dry sideways = roll...
As far as the safeness of a ranger i had a lady pull infront of me and didnt accelerate and i hit her doin 50 she was only doin 5... Needless to say my ranger was totaled but i only had minor injuries. and that was mostly neck and back... My ranger faired very well. thats why i got another one

Again you don't know the circumstances the road is a smal country road I flipped it and landed on a farm I drive the curve every weekend I know it is a tight curve I know to slow down for it I know it is hard for a PERFECT driver like your self to understand but people do make mistakes

scares me to read about how people freak out when the tail gets happy... if I were in charge everyone would need defensive driving lessons from professionals...

have you never gotten pulled over or gotten a ticket for anything in your life? how about on your bike? yamaha r6 is a pretty fast bike, you of course, are the epitome of safety, so you would never endanger people's life by riding a street bike above the speed limit, would you? and lane splitting on a bike... never done that either eh? i know it's legal in some places, but it's still not safe... you wouldn't ever do anything like that, would you?

wow. everyone completely just went off on the OP. he just crashed his truck, give him a break. you dont know the circumstances at all and judging him by what you can see by the pictures. stop focusing on what could have happened and be glad he's alright. woah there's houses behind the trees? no way. not anywhere close to his truck. from the look of the picture the truck rolled away from the houses anyways.

forgot to mention in my last post, i'm glad you are ok, i've been close to your situation a few times in my life, maybe not rolling the vehicle in all of then... good luck with the insurance adjusters, hope everything comes out well...

love how everyone automaticly knows what happens when they see a crashed truck.
firstly Sh*t happens. theese thing do happen, its not always caused by doing somthing unsafe or dumb. and even if he was no one got hurt, nothing else got damaged and if it was trying to hang a corner i bet he wont do it again, its a big price to pay but people learn through mistakes, give the guy a break. i know i have posted vids of snow drifting so you dont have to tell me im dumb or flame on me for being a hipacrit or bs like that. im just saying its sad to make a guy who already feels like crap for losin his truck feel worse and throw some half cocked theorys out. keep them to yourself til you got some rock hard evidence... oh yeah were are the tire marks from the elged slide.....

Sorry to hear about your truck. Join the club, hope insurance treats you as well as they did me. And don't feel bad, "tony" assumed my wreck was caused by excessive speed too, even though I was traveling at or below the speed limit at the time.

A good driver knows to expect the unexpected. Yes, I speed in the truck and on the bike. But I sure as hell don't speed around a turn like that.
My guess? If there was a line seperating the two directions of travel, you probably crossed it. There's no one stupid enough to stay in their 'lane' at high speeds around a corner like that. (unless you really ARE stupid enough, but I would like to give you SOME credit)
that's a good idea... be a complete *** to someone who just wrote off their truck... i'm sure he feels bad enough... are you telling me you've never done anything stupid while driving? never hit ice and spun your tires at all? maybe he hit a spike sticking out of the road and that's why those 2 tires are flat... that could cause what he described, without even knowing that it had happened...

BUT NOT WHEN I'VE GOT SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE IN MY HANDS and certainly not around a corner like that. To the OP... ask your friend if they would jump in a truck with you again. If you get an honest answer, maybe that'll be more of a learning lesson. I'm glad no one got hurt, but not all accidents end up injuryless (if that's a word at all).
There's a time and place for shyt like that. Speeding in a residential area around a tight corner is NOT the time or place.
One thing I have not done... LANE SPLITTING. Wanna know why?
1) It's dangerous. Who knows when a driver in either lane will want to change lanes without signalling.
2) It's also against the law except in California. If I were to do that in any other state and I was involved in an accident, the police and insurance companies would deem ME responsible for my accident no matter who was responsible.

Yes, I do come off as a dyck, but for most people that's the only way to try and get through to help change their ways.
There was a new rider on the R6 forum where I was REALLY harsh on him to get him to get his license, insurance, and take a motorcycle course. In the end, he decided to do everything we suggested. A week or so after he got everything done, he was hit by another driver. Everything we told him to do actually helped save his life AND safe his wallet from being raped by repairs.
I've told him I felt guilty that I took such a hard tactic on him, but he said it was the right thing to do. No matter what I do or say, I will ALWAYS feel guilty for being harsh on him like that, but in the end, he's alright physically.
If people stopped blaming their situations on 'outside forces', common sense would actually show it's face again.
