Anyone ever wonder.....?

Why the hell there are 7 different windshield wiper speeds when all you really use is the 1st and last speed? I was thinking about that today when i was driving

for the people like my girlfriend who like to adjust the speed every 30 sec during a rain storm, "cause you don't want it to fast or to slow"

i acully have used all of them with alot of highway driving for long hours you can find a setting that is perfect for the weather what can i say i get bored on the highway lol..

Wipers annoy me. I'd rather they not be flinging themselves across the windshielf every half second when it's just a light sprinkle. I like to keep them on the bare minumum possible, but it's not like my hand is constantly making adjustments.
Besides options are good. If you wanna look for reasons to question Ford's logic, there are better places to start.

I usually have rainx on the windshield so I don't use the wipers much. When I do use them, I find the delay settings to be an annoyance more than anything. If it isn't raining hard enough for me to keep them on one of the non-delay settings I prefer to just flip them on and off for a sweep as needed.

I use most all the speedes.

What I hate is when im in my friends escort he only has like 2 or 3 speeds, so when its raining slightly, he has his wipes going super fast and they are just bouncing off the windshield making all kinds of noise...nothing can drive me more crazy then that, i donno why.

I use all the speeds, because i too like Zach & Kris get bored lol. I need new blades too btw.. I kinda want to try the Bosch Icons or the PIAA silicone.

I don't use my wipers besides in the morning to get the dew/fog off the window. I use Rain-X. Usually, speeds above 20 and my window is clear. For speeds under 20, I may crack them on and off again, just a single swipe.

Come to think of it, the Fusion may have only had her wipers on for a total of like, 10 or 15 swipes.

I use em

In alaska youll use all of em when the snow starts meltin and flys up on ur windshield from the cars in front of ya.

Ecactly... you dont know how nice differant delays are untill you drive a car without them...

exactly. my 97 grand am had 2 settings. off and super effn fast. it blew. im liking the multiple settings.

Funny... I have delay wipers, with high and low but the range of delay settings really only means two or three speeds.

And the first setting is usually (but not always) faster than the last.

Try living in Oregon. we have 7 different kinds of rain.

I too use the great Rain-X. However I'm lazy so I just use the windshield washer fluid but, either way I don't think I've ever turned my wipers past the 2nd delay setting in the 6 months I've owned the truck.

i wax my windows, so if anything just a on/off flip around town every now and then. I think i use the washer fluid more then the actual wiper action movement... what is it that i'm trying to say?

Better than an antique ford with vacuum wiper motor , where you can have wipers or accelerate , but not both. [60 model truck] . But my 66 t-bird was so cool with the hydro wipes, [run off the return line of the power steering pump] talk about wipers with AUTHORITY.

AWESOME! I can't believe the difference the washer fluid alone makes. When I drive other peoples cars in the rain I can't understand how people even drove in the rain before Rain-X. I just use the washer fluid, it's about 2.49 a gallon around here but worth every penny of it in my opinion. Thursday night we got about 1.5" of rain in about 4 hours and I didn't have my wipers over the first delay setting. Get the Rain-X you won't be disapointed

lol, people get annoyed when i drive in the rain... i alway flip them on, then off.. no matter how hard it's raining, i always do it manually, and always get yelled at to just leave them on.. i dunno why i do it, i just do. the only time ill leave them on is at full tilt in those really heavy rain storms where you can't see more than 10 feet ahead of you anyway.
