Icon5 curious question?

can an 03 ranger run without the cat converter? its got 2 sensors any input and please dont go into "its bad for the environment" our government is bad for the environment.

I really don't know but if it did run it would not run very well since the readings from the O2 sensors would be way off and you would get a check engine light. If you are worried about the catalytic converters being restrictive, don't be. Most now are a free-flow design.

The O2 sensors that control the A/F mixture are upsteam of the cats. Without cats, it would run no worse than the same truck with a full set of cats in good condition.

There will be a P0420 trouble code and Check Engine Light if the cats are removed or gutted.

well im dealing with a clogged one right now 03 ranger has four cats on the bitch

well im dealing with a clogged one right now i believe the ranger has 4 cats on it but cant get the welds off

i took off the 02 sensors theres 3 total and no codes have shown up

A plugged/melted cat means that you have other problems. It is usually cause by misfire that has driven exhaust gas temperatures much higher than normal.

my problem is that it idles but when i hit the gas i get nothing it bogs down and the intake is sucking in mass amounts of air more than normal. also my ac compressor has been intermitent it runs the clicks off every 30 seconds

i had missfires yes in two of the chambers replaced the coil pack 9 months ago and just recently had to change it again because the 5th cylinder was misfiring, the coil pack wasnt sending fire to 5th cylinder shortly after replacing it this happens

idc about the codes i just need the truck running right lol im fine with having the check engine light on im not about to drop 200-500 bucks for cats

my buddy seems to think it could be a fuel pump problem
