speaking, lets say I fell into $500 and lets say I chose to drop it on my poor little 2000 2.5L.
What would you guys do with it? I would like to keep her looking as stock as possible. That means no lifts and I would prefer no added sound. Just some "hidden" performance if you will.
I know $500 isn't a lot, but work with me :)

before going all gadgety and hooking up the tuner to your ECU, make the truck breathe better first. Cold Air Intake, throttle body spacer, header(s),high flow catalytic converter, slightly larger exhaust piping, and a quiet aftermarket muffler.
This will cost over $500, or close to, but making it breathe in and out better would be first to do on my list. After I've played with things mechanically, then I would go and look into using the tuner to remap the ECU and unleash further power.

by the 3.0L, and 4.0L engines, so it is way over designed for the 4 cylinder.

If I fell into an extra $500 , instead of buying 'goodies' for my truck , I would be thinking ahead for when prices of everything start to go on the rise again.

Doesn't hurt to have even a little nestegg tucked away.

I'd say look your truck over real close, and replace any badly worn parts before they break. Like ball joints, belt, hoses, u-joints, leaky axle seals, brakes, shocks, etc...

so excuse me for not knowing what he has for the lack of info provided.
How will a header and full exhaust not improve anything? Intake and exhaust is the first thing to do on any vehicle to open up more power and better breathing, especially on a 4 cylinder.
I guess I could have told him to put a supercharger on it,but that wouldn't add any power or anything would it?
