Truck Worth - Fix it, or sell it as is?
So... the 2007 took a giant dump. Rod is hanging out through the bottom of the oil pan. Needs a whole new engine.
I was planning on selling it soon anyway and getting a nice little DD car, so now, the question is, do I fix it, then go for a trade, or do I just see what I'll get for a trade as it is now.
I'm ball-parking around $2500 bucks to drop a whole new engine in (based on some information I've got so far).
Going off KBB and other sites, I'm ball-parking the truck value at around $6500, maybe $6000 since it doesn't have stock wheels, etc. and I know that dealerships view that stuff as a negative. So yeah... figured I'd look for some input from you guys.
Details on the truck: 3.0L Ford Ranger Sport. 5-speed with 4.10 gears. 4WD. 95k on the clock. Anything else just ask.

My engine went out about a year and a half ago. My 2000 is a lot older than yours, but I pondered the same things you are. In the end, I chose to go the route of a new engine. Since I really like my truck and have it fixed up the way I want it, the decision for me was one of economics and the fact that I wanted to keep my truck.
I chose not to go to the Ford Dealership, because they wanted twice as much to do the job.
I also chose to have my engine shop do some extras when the engine was out, like put in a new radiator etc. If you don't have time to do it yourself and have the funds, my suggestion: work with a reputable engine rebuilder and installation mechanic in your area and opt for the extra engine warranty for extra piece of mind.
