Do any of you use your Rangers as work trucks? Do you have ladder racks, tool caps, trailering set ups for making the good ole dollar? If so post some pics. I had a 2000 2wd Ranger that my old boss bought for my company truck with a A.R.E. tool cap on it and extra leafs added to the leaf packs to hold extra weight. We averaged approx. 800-1200 pounds of equipment each day. I'll try to dig up some pics.

from left to right: 04 ranger with Thompson Pressure washer, 95 E350 (major mods to this truck(out does most on this forum) 77 E350 (lots of mods done to this truck as well) the 95 is the one with the most modifications tho. (for those who care the truck originally was to high to fit in the garage, so we cut 8inches out of the body and lowered the top half, reconnected it, and reinforced it, thats what the silver stripe is along the body.)(Ford and Unicell both said it would NEVER work, it would fall apart blah blah blah, some guy from unicells factory called and told us DONT DO IT. there it is, 3? 4? years later? I managed to involve it in a small accident at wendys (tore the back section off- got too close to the drive thru window - oops, and i was rear ended in may, and its still holding strong. the body is stiffer now than it was!)






in october Buffalo got a ton of snow as most of you know. Well its a LONG walk from my back yard to the road, so I made use of my truck







needless to say - the tree won

 

i used to use it for work at my last job...hauled construction stuff around, lumber, sonotubes, signs...etc. no pics though...only stuck around for 3 months...didnt care for the drive....wont miss all the scratches appearing from people throwing stuff in and missing...

 

I use mine for work but dont really have any pics. I haul a lot of stuff in the back like parts and tools and sometimes pull a trailer for larger items!

Her is my old work truck 2002 F150 4.2L V6 auto. Put 140,000 miles on it in 2 years great truck. Went back to visit the other day and the new guy who drives it has bashed every panel in and trashed the interior.

Work truck!!!, im a carpenter and use it daily,rack has a working limit of 1100 pounds( would never carry that much)has built in tie downs and its light but strong. I carry 2x8x20 easy, aswell as siding brakes,pump jacks,power tools,ladders and hand tools ect ect.My truck is totally standard 4.0L edge

That's a clean looking work truck. I'm impressed. I use mine for hauling crap all the time. Just hauled 12 sheets of 4x8 sheetrock the other day. Did it 2 trips just cause didn't want anything to happen to the sheetrock. Hauled rocks for my mom's garden. Hauled like 2500 lbs of sand for my buddies brick deck he was building (2 trips again... hell that was still one hell of a load though). It's moved me into and out of 5 different places of residence, let alone the countless other people it's helped move. I don't know where I'd be without my baby.

 

Well i do look after my truck, oil change every 3,000 miles, washed and cleaned once a week,its a 2001 with 130,000 on her with no problems

 

i wash mine 3-5x a week still. tho it does need an oil change. wanna change it for me?

 

I am currently stationed in bahrain and we use a four door ranger as our work truck i will try to get some pics tomorrow

I dont do my own oil changes, ive enough work on my 1880 farm house im re modeling,not enough hours in the day!!

 

I think I helped about 10 of my team mates move starting from May to August...7 of them being in one week cleaning out their dorms and apts to move to new ones....

 

Mine used to work, but that was in its younger days..

I was not able to rent a bobcat because I have a ranger and they said I needed a full size truck... gurrrrrrrrrrrr I knew the ranger could handle it!

 

the ranger can handle anything on wheels. truck may not like it, but if its on wheels it can move it.

 

I was looking at that ladder rack when I almost got a job that would require me to haul ladders and lumbar and stuff. How do you like it? Is it as nice as they describe it?

 

ITS the best rack ive ever had, strong and light,its now almost 3 years old, no problems or signs of wear.Takes about 2 hours to set up and fix.The back section unbolts to carry taller stuff .It has tie downs built in so no more rope.

 

depends on the size of the skid steer, but i say if it weighed under 5000lbs not including the trailer i would do it.

heck atleast hook it up and if it sags to much forget it.

 

so far I've thrown in a few hundred pounds of crusher run



It will be used shortly for the motorcycle as its getting serviced.

 

I dont have pics but I did alot of work with my 95 2wd Ranger. One time I hauled 100- 1" (actual thickness) x 6" x 7' solid oak door jambs 25 miles. I had the back bumper down 8 inches. That got scary when I slipped off the clutch too fast. I had to do a hard stop to get them back in line again.

I was also the first in my circle of friends with a truck, 12 moves in one year (one guy a few times)

Rangers are awesome. You can go from work to play with just one washing (if thats how you want to play)

1 little truck to haul this crap around, well not all at once i dont have big enough trailer.

 

I wish I had pics, but hauled a two car garage roof of shingles and tar paper to the dump in one trip...1640lbs. of payload across the scales... 92' 2wd 4cyl manual. It sat overnight on the truck, so I put a floor jack and jack stands under the frame to save on the springs until morning. No problems with power, just suspension sag while hauling.
My 2003 4.0 manual 4x4 was my puller for my 6x12 Haulmark enclosed trailer w/ two quads, tools, and gear for a while. Power was always good....But needed trailer brakes put on it to get it stopped quickly.
AND, my work truck was a 1999 or 2000 and had a tool cap. We were so overweight with tools and supplies that we went up a steep hill and the clutch wouldn't grab, and smoked....Thankfully it didn't glaze, and was fine after it cooled.
