my ranger cant swim

well heres the story, i was goin to this one spot in the back of the dunes to go swimmin and went by this one spot where the water was a little close to the trail but i didnt think nothin of it and my front tires went by it just fine and then when the *** end went by it caved in and i was done, so i backed up into the water and tried to get back on the trail and ended up gettin in a little to deep and my truck just died and i had NO power at all anywhere so im guessin my comoputer is fried, so now i'm in the process of changin the fluids and cleanin the inside, could you guys tell me everything i need to do cause idk wut to do and i've never done this before so help me please guys. when i finally realized i wasnt movin anymore i got out and called my dad and in the mean time one of the guys my mom works with was droppin some tires off that we just bought for my pickup and he has a jeep with a winch so we asked him to come out and help us and thank god he did cause if he didnt idk how i woulda got out and i had taken pics with my phone and i had some pretty good ones of it in the water when it first happened but then i dropped my phone in the water and it fried so these ones are from my digital camera

sucks man
shoulda known, its a pickup. always expect the rear to slide out on an angle like that on that narrow of a trail. definitely looks like more a dirtbike/quad trail.

Man no offense I just dont see where you were driving to lol. Getting stuck up in water like that especially a stock ranger is not good. You may have gotten lucky but the next few days will tell you by just seeing how the engine runs.

That is not good... I fried my original engine in my 96 that way...

Change all of your Fluids. In everything!!!

I got my engine running again, Pull all of the plugs, turn it over,, shoots out water, intstall plugs, change oil and filter,, start it.. run it for 5 min.. drain oil... add 5qts.. ATF.. (sounds crazy I know, but it flushes out the engine.) run that for 5 to ten minutes.. change oil and filter again.. drive it around for an hour. change oil again,,, then change it in 500 miles, then 1000miles, then back to 3k...

I Mangaged to get another 7,000 miles out of it untill a bearing spun between the #3 and 4 connecting rods... at 75 miles an hour on I -10. <- not fun....

I was there when the engine shop tore apart my old engine... He asked me what really happend? I told him what happened, He didn't belive me.. He said that the internals where too clean for that to have happened,, then pointed to a recent water logged engine.. looked like beige mud on the inside..I told him the above process. A peice of sand or small metal, managed to get in that bearing and the hole bottom end of that engine Greanaded.... he was handing me peices of connecting rods....

Hope you have better luck....
