Installed my "shur trax" weight in the bed for the winter and put the hidden hitch back on for recovery. Good to go!
Btw, that is not the colour of my truck, just showing the shur trax, which I recommend for winter drivers.

Can't believe I just recently found this site. My truck is at 100,000mi and, I came on here looking for a few things to upgrade instead of just replace. Now the project list is growing faster than I can tackle it. Got a bunch knocked out today:

fog light w/ high beams mod
front marker lights to turn signals mod
explorer dome light w/ LEDs
LED cargo light powered by buggman
KYB monotube shocks
Y-spoke wheels off a new ranger found on craigslist by wildchild waiting for
new bridgestones on order

Still on the growing list:

Cobra rear discs
upgraded front discs
hellas behind the grill
explorer leaf springs
explorer center console

haha, yeah I was off all day. The first 4 on the list only took about an hour combined, the shocks took another 2 and a stroll down to ace. All the hard ones are still to come and will take some searching at the junkyard.

Drove the hell out of it to the gas station, feels like it has power again, must be the colder weather... Back up to 17.4mpg avg the last 4 tank fulls, better than the 14 I was getting with it for a month or two, Probably be better if I'd lay off the skinny pedal.... Might help if I swapped the plugs and wires that have been sitting on the counter for 3 months now...

Don't turbo it. I Don't care if it's v6 or a 4cyl. I'm assuming you a 4 cylinder because you want more power. Your best bet is to just swap it for something you can bar. If you turbo it and it is not a D.O.T. approved turbo kit it will not pass smog. No point in that. Swap it for a motor that is turbo'ed already. One that you can pass B.A.R. with.) Then you can play with it from their and do the little sneaky stuff that will make you have more power that smog guys won't notice. Your 2wd so it's not like you have to find a tranny that will have to work for a 4wd. Either that or just do a v8 swap. Soooo much info on here or tons of other sites that will help you get the knowledge you need on getting a v8's into rangers.
