Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8530)

Tilt steering and cruise control swap. Bigger project than expected. LOL. Had to swap a lot of wiring, plus add the pin and wire to my harness for the cruise pod illumination. Also modded the cruise pods with LEDs. Overall very happy with the swap, just need to get the correct cable for the cruise module, as it came from a 5.0 Exploder.

Changed out the front wheel bearings (races too) and seals. It was a good excuse to buy some more tools from Harbor Freight. Got the race/seal driver kit from them for 25.00. Paid for itself with one job.
next weekend; plugs, wires, air filter and oil change.

Air filter cleaned, changed oil and filter, rotated tires, changed power steering pump fluid, and cleaned MAF. Wow I should have cleaned the MAF a loooong time ago. It has fixed all my sputtering and popping noise when accelerating.

Put on a timing belt yesterday. ('98 2.5L, 5-speed) Had to guesstimate the cam sprocket position because the guy who owned it before me busted off the inner timing belt cover when he changed the head gasket (or more likely replaced the head).

So today, after the truck ran poorly and wouldn’t go over 60, I advanced the cam one notch on the belt and………FIXED! Loaded it up and took a 120 mile trip.

List of stuff the previous owner did wrong (so far):

Removed the spindles, and tore all the ball joint boots while doing it (don’t know why)

Busted the rear timing belt cover (mentioned above causing today’s stupid problems)

Left the front timing belt cover off and lost it (I put on a new one)

Hacked a stereo into the dash, currently on the “to do list”. (Darn thing has a sharp bezel and got to be careful when I shift into 3rd so I don’t cut my knuckles…..again…..)

Used Blue RTV on the thermostat housing instead of the $2 seal. Took an hour just to scrape the crap off…….

Filled the cooling system with 100 percent undiluted antifreeze, so I did a flush ‘n fill.

Left the connector off of the idle air control valve and didn’t know why it didn’t idle very well.

Didn’t install a seal on the hub, so I Installed new wheel bearings…..

The vent / floor / defrost selector doesn’t work right. Can’t wait to see how he screwed that up….

No power to the cigarette lighter sockets or the interior light. He probably screwed those up with the stereo hack job…

Overtorqued the oil pan plug, not sure if it is leaking now – will replace it at next oil change (unless it is leaking now…..)

Hood and tailgate latches mis adjusted – on the “to do list”

Left only one bolt holding the power steering pump bracket on causing the pump pulley and the idler pulley to be grossly miss aligned in relation to the other pulleys.

Some people just shouldn’t be allowed to own tools…….

Yeah, I gained about 1.5 mpgs from the last fill up but I did way to much stop and go driving this week, Using the cruise control as often as I can, you'd think at $4 bucks a gallon now there would be fewer cars on the road. I cleaned and put the K & N air filter back in and stuck a new freshener in the heat vent on the passenger side of the foot well .

Removed the stock exhaust and put a Dynomax cat-back system on. Sounds pretty good to me.

Threw a new gatorback belt on her.

Changed the power steering fluid to synthetic.

rkneeshaw, looks like your tie-rod rubs on the passenger side drop bracket? Mine does too its really annoying, and i haven't figure out how to fix it yet.

Here's what I did today: made a way to mount my two 33" spares and jerry cans, as well as cargo when I go on a trip. These tracks allow me to mount the spares laying down (for visibility when commuting) or standing up for bed space on wheeling/camping trips.

Fixed the big ol' dent in front by replacing the whole fender:

Black corners:

Decided I don't like the corners without some black headlights so I'll be ordering those soon.

And Gibson cat back exhaust was installed that I bought from another member on here!

Not what I did to it but what I did with it... Just got home from a 800 Mile road trip and fishing with my wife's family... Now to try and get some sleep before work at 9am :( At the end of May my wife and I will be making another road trip totaling 378 miles for a family reunion then in June we will be making another 800 mile trip back to Houston and home... We are sooooo not looking forward to that one.
