Yes because I do that. WOW. You know me so well. Stop and think for a second. Everyone is going to want this truck. There are people that have the money to pay top dollar for the truck so guess what? Markup. Just like the Challenger. Oh you saw them for sale for 38? Did you go in and run the numbers?

I'm sure there is fine print on that sale somewhere.

And if I'm wrong about the markups then all well. I can at least admit when I"m wrong.

Just normal sales tax, title fees and all that fun stuff. Crossroads Ford in Raleigh, NC just sold one 2 weeks ago for 46k fully loaded which is the normal MSRP for it. I'm sure some dealers will jack the price up but of course theres going to be the stupid people that will pay it.

the body is different, which you would have to make custom (fenders, hood, box, grille, bumpers) the truck is 8 inches wider than the standard f-150, which means the rear diff is 8 inches wider, the front cv shafts are 4 inches longer each, the shocks that come on it are not available anywhere, fox racing, who made them, made them specifically for the raptor, and i believe ford is part owner of the patent on it, so you can't get them aftermarker, nor will you be able to any time soon...

in addition to that there is 16 inches of wheel travel on this truck stock, i'm not 100% sure of what the front can do though...

There are two black Raptors for sale at different dealers in Lexington, neither has an additional markup or addendum.
FYI the Mustang Cobra's used to have markups on them at the dealer I worked at in 04, yet nobody ever paid that, or even retail.
It isn't really a fair comparison to say that it is overpriced because of dealer markups, and use other trucks actual purchase prices as comparisons. In this market (or any really?) paying MSRP is stupid.

Anyway, I think the raptor is awesome. This is a type of truck that no other manufacturer puts off the assembly line which makes it unique in itself. Comparing new to new, you could not build a truck like that for cheaper. I believe the track is actually 7" wider (lots of mixed specs out there), the truck has unique wider fenders, rear axle, stronger frame, tuned shocks/springs, several electronic options, etc all from the factory and warrantied. You can pick it up from the dealer and drive it straight out to the sand at 100mph. There is also the fact that it can still be used as a truck, and doesn't handle on the road like an average built pre-runner truck. Read/watch any of the several reviews out there about it.
It is not just another F150, although the F150 is America's best selling vehicle for some 27+ years, no?

The truck doesn't make sense to someone who wouldn't use what it has to offer. Sure a ton of them will be driven by dudebros who will put big wheels on it and drive it to the mall. So what? Ford went out to do something different and unique and they did a great job with it.

I still think the raptor is way overhyped. It really isn't that special. A plain f150 with an aftermarket long travel kit will own it. People make such a big deal out of the shocks, they aren't like rare or that special or anything.

uh, yes they are, you can't buy them aftermarket... fox is only supplying these to the raptors... the wheel base is also 8 inches wider than a stock f-150

Fox.com for shocks and usually long travel kits widen your front end.

I swear some of you would cream your pants if Ford took a **** on a plate and slapped a SVT sticker on it.

Technically I don't hate Ford. My truck is just a POS. Why do I drive it? When I bought it I didn't make too much and this truck happened to be in my price range. I actually bought it at a Toyota dealer. Was I looking for a Ford? Obviously not. Now I make good money and I'm saving for a down on something new or newer. Like I said I don't hate Ford I just wouldn't really drive another one of their vehicles. Who knows though since there is a nice Superduty for sale by my house that I might call about. I was kind of discouraged though since my buddy that worked at Ford was telling me stories about them.

while i hear where your coming from, i don't quite understand why you are on a ranger (ford truck) enthusiast website... that being said, your friend who worked at ford, of course he has stories about them... anyone who worked at any dealership would... i got a buddy who works for chevy, and he's got tonnes of stories about them too...

So it's Fords fault that you can't take care of your vehicles, and they become pieces of crap?

You want to hear a story about Toyota? We have 38 brand new fully loaded Sequoias that Toyota messed up on with the rear hatch and they leak. They can't sell them so we're going to part them out and most likely crush them. Also, when Toyota wasn't selling many 07's and 08's, they took hundreds of them, ReVin'd them and sold them as new models.

So I could take a **** on plate and put TRD on it and you'd do the same right?

You do realize wheel base has nothing to with width of the truck.

The raptor is an SVT. its not meant for the practical buyer niether was the lightning, niether is anything out of ford special vehicle team. Anything with an SVT badge is meant for people like us, people who take pride in their cars/trucks, people who want the best of the best for no real reason other than wanting it. Arguably the SVT focus or the mustang is a little more for the DD but a regular person who wants a regular mustang or a regular commuter focus has no want/need for an SVT.

personally i love the thing, but with ford pricing where it is, I would rather buy a platinum F 150 as a DD. if im spending over 38,000 for a truck im not offroading it anyway, id rather bump it up 4000 and get a platinum with a screw cab.
