What does this dashlight mean?

*photos of a 04-05 cluster...there's no LED to illuminate the TPMS, but the 'lense' is there for it. On a TPMS model, there'll be a tiny lil LED behind the 'lense'.

Just remember to remove the tape for the next owner. My Buddy Scott, has a reputation for driving craap cars. He bought a car a couple years ago that was actually pretty nice and he was proud that the Check engine light wasn't on (first car he owned that didn't have that light on) Well I took her for a spin and noticed it didn't come on when you started the car up when it cycles through all the idiot lights. We took apart the cluster and someone, probably the dealer, put tape over it on the back side. It broke his heart!

A loose or missing fuel cap obviously falls into the gross leak category. Since Ford would rather not pay warranty claims because of user error, an additional step was added with EPA's permission. If the gross leak is detected after a refueling event, the Check Fuel Cap light (or icon) comes on first to alert the driver of a possible cap sealing problem. If the leak contines to be detected in subsequent drives, the CEL will illuminate.
