Tires 265 vs 31's???

Im thinking of putting a new set of boots on in about 10k and Im not sure if i want to put on sone 31's o 265 75r 15's, I know ill get great gas mileage from the 265's but I want the more aggressive look of what the 31's offer plus the 31's would be good when im in the fields and doing the light trails.

Im worried with the heavier 31 I'll loose my gas mileage on the highway does anyone know if this is true or will i get the same gas mileage qualities out of the 31 as i would from the 265?? Also Im jut going for a mild tread not a pure trail digger...

31s will be larger so yes you will get lower gas mileage with them. thats said 31s are still not that much larger than stock and I think it would be worth it for the looks

My stock tire size is the p235 75R 15's and by going up to the 265's thats what the gearing should be, and a 265 is 30.7 inches compared to a 31, so im wondering that with the gearing becoming lower and increasing my fuel mileage would the weight of the 31's 6 ply create the fuel decrease or react as the same as the 265 and not have a weight effect??

Just upgraded from stock Good Year WranglerP235 75 R15 to Firestone Destination P265 75R15 and i love them, my truck gets better fuel mileage due to the gearing change and the 2 ply tires, they dont rub at all they look a little stuffed but ride great! Glad I picked them over the 31's cause there 6 ply minimum and would be harder on gas and it keeps the desert runner look and functionality of a daily driver i need!

Not all 265's are smaller then a 31. My duras are 265/75r16 and measured 31.5". To me they are the same one is just Canadian sizing.

Yes that is true I've been discovering that at the tire shope there are actually 265's out there that are a fraction af an inch larger then 31's for example the Hercules Terra trac 265 is slightly larger all around then the 31's, but the 31's are all hands down heavier being 6 ply tires opposed to the 265's are 2 ply therefore on a daily driver acheiving the lower gearing with less turning mass!

go with 32's. with a 32in tire on a 4x4 suspension you do not need a lift to make them fit. Who ever says you do, doesnt know what their talking about. My truck is proof of such.

Yeah I hear you! I got a quote from some shop saying that 265's wouldn't fit on my truck and they actually didn't want to install them unless i lifted the truck i told them it would work his reply was "I've been doing this a long time and its gonna rub width wise" Well i decided on a firestone 265 not the 31's or 32's the 265 is a 2 ply and lighter, So the shop i decided to go to (different shop) told me they had no concers with installing them! I have previously cranked my T-bars about 1 inch but it still obviously clears no problem! No rubbing what so ever
